I've noticed often that as a Dead Ringer spy, when I'm cloaked, damage that should kill me instead doesn't, and often I'm left with enough health to get to a nearby health kit. That being said, is this something in the code I don't know about?

Does being cloaked using any watch give you damage resistance?

No. You only get 90% damage resistance when you're cloaked:

  • if you're using the Dead Ringer,
  • only for the first 6.5 seconds (default cloak duration).

Picking up ammo extends your cloak, but not your damage resistance. While you have damage resistance you also won't "blink" when touching enemies (you will still block them.)

Fun Fact: The Dead Ringer is the only way to survive a backstab besides being invulnerable through e.g. default medigun Ubercharge or Bonk! Atomic Punch. Activating the Phlogistinator also gives you a 90% damage resistance, except for backstabs, which do regular damage.

@VaelVictus Full overheal is 150% of your max health. A backstab is 600% of your health. After DR, that's 60%. This means you can survive 2 stabs at most, unless you pick up health packs along the way. – badp♦ Jan 27 at 17:08
