I can't figure out if the Dolphin emulator just does that red/blue 3D or actual 3D. I'm thinking about purchasing a 3D TV soon and I'm wondering if it'll be compatible.

As far as I know, the answer is no. I don't see any setting in the graphics configuration regarding 3D, or in the Dolphin configuration.

I don't think Wii even supports 3d televisions in the first place, so that 3d tv wouldn't work even with an actual Wii.

Emulators can do things the original consoles can't, starting from running in software, continuing through save states and memory injection cheats, through to improved graphics, so this question is reasonable. – SevenSidedDie Feb 10 at 18:45
