I finally beat Final Fantasy VII after about 45 hours, but the end video leaves more questions then answers. My question is, did the gang die or did they survive the accident?

I haven't played the game, but your last sentence makes me wonder whether this question belongs here at all. Are you asking for concrete information, or for personal, unverifiable opinion as to how the plot could have progressed after the actual game ending? –  Oak Jan 16 '11 at 8:22

@Oak In this case, there is concrete information in the form of other official works in the same storyline, so this question is inline with others that ask about a game's backstory, which I believe we've decided is on topic. If it were just asking for interpretations, I'd tend to agree with you. –  bwarner Jan 16 '11 at 13:30

There should be one of these questions for every final fantasy... –  Keaanu Apr 13 '11 at 20:45

This may make as many questions as it answers, but Advent Children was the follow up to FF VII

Unfortunately, Advent Children was absolutely terrible. –  JSBձոգչ Jan 16 '11 at 5:43

yea, sure the plot wasn't the strongest ever in a movie (basically imagine an average RPG boiled down into a 90 minute film) but in standard SquEnix form it did look pretty and was mostly fun to watch –  Xantec Jan 16 '11 at 5:56

@JSBangs I disagree. Aside from a couple cheesy scenes I thought it was really well done. –  Davy8 Jan 16 '11 at 14:55

Be sure to watch the Complete version, and not any of the other (less than complete) versions. –  briankb Aug 6 '11 at 22:31

Althought they seem in the worst situation at game end, they assuredly survive to see the epic Advent Children anime movie.

The way they did survive, though, isn't defined in any text or video from square electronics I know of.

@mana: i wonder as to why formatting text is unwelcomed? –  Félix Gagnon-Grenier Jan 16 '11 at 17:04

It's not unwelcomed, just that your text was formatted for no visible reason. It seemed as though the only reason you had for those seemingly random line breaks was to take up more space. –  Mana Jan 16 '11 at 17:46

no, it's more of a way to express things. I write a lot, and think that line breaks allow for an easier text to read. The answer by Jasarien is exactly the same. –  Félix Gagnon-Grenier Jan 16 '11 at 19:42

Aeris' dialogue with the planet activated Holy, the ultimate White magic that is the only magic powerful enough to combat Meteor, the ultimate black magic.

Holy used the planets lifestream to defeat Meteor, rescuing the planet and it's people.

Midgar was left in ruins.

All of the Main characters of FF7 survived and lived to fight another day (Advent Children).

Sephiroth's physical form no longer exists having been destroyed by Cloud and the gang, but his presence still infects the life stream, the planet and Cloud's mind.

A number of Sephiroth clones still exist.

That leads to the story of Advent Children.

I believe Cloud moves out to the Arena in Hercules-land, and some kid with a giant key-for-a-sword fights him. The other characters mainly are hanging out in some town run by disney characters.
