Arqade is a question and answer site for passionate videogamers on all platforms. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I don't really know if it's from a game, but it surely looks like:

This animation is used as avatar in several different forums over the internet.

Do those forums run on the same forum software? If so it could just be an avatar built into the forum software those sites run on. –  Katustrawfic Feb 5 at 17:27

If you dump this image into Google image search (in the Chrome browser you can just right click "Search Google for this image", Google also answers this question correctly :-) –  Series8217 Feb 6 at 16:31

That's the titular Boy, from A Boy and His Blob, on the NES.

Here he is alongside his Blob, I believe in the process of tossing the Blob a jellybean:

The Boy, also his Blob

Animated GIF version of the toss on tumblr, for those interested

@RilgonArcsinh: Currently all of our (valid) ITG questions have been answered. –  BlueRaja - Danny Pflughoeft Feb 5 at 21:09

@BlueRaja-DannyPflughoeft In my defense, I have not been on Arqade for a long time (since about the time the ITG debate was raging) and hadn't seen a valid one be answered. –  Rilgon Arcsinh Feb 5 at 21:12
