Do I need two licenses to play StarCraft 2 multiplayer over a LAN?
Isn't there an option to buy just one retail copy, and get 2 battle.net accounts and then play with that single copy?

In order to play StarCraft II multiplayer, you must have access to a Battle.Net account that has a license of SC2. An account will usually gain a license through one of two methods:
If you want to play with another person, you will need to purchase two separate copies, and register them to two separate Battle.Net accounts. You can't share one copy between two accounts. |

You do have to buy 2 copies if you want to multiplay with your friend. The starcraft client is essentially free. The retail price buys you one battle.net account on one server. |
