I have been ripped off a couple of times recently trading for hats and weapons in Team Fortress 2 - is there a price guide available anywhere that I can reference to stop this from happening?

Obviously I don't expect it to be perfect, the prices I get will differ from person to person, but even a general indicator would be helpful.

I don't know how often it's updated, but TF2spreadsheet seems reasonable (formerly located here).

This helped me when you posted it in chat. It seems that it is updated relatively frequently; the top right-hand corner shows when it was last updated. Can you please remind us what NV/NG stands for in the 5th column. – jaminja Jun 4 '11 at 15:37

The best website I have found is: HERE. It's community run, and constantly updated, so you're always getting the right price for the right item.

It lists items based on their refined value, or bills/buds value, and has the list for both vintage and non vintage versions of applicable items.

That was the guide I hate, they change the items price several time and I feel they are just either follow the trend of whoever said in the server. I hate this one :( – user13934 Nov 10 '11 at 16:20

Yea, but i realize that he change price mostly without saying anything about why he changed it, while the other one seem does better on that. I am going with the other one, thanks though :) – user13934 Nov 10 '11 at 16:29

I use TF2 Pricing Guide a lot, don't know what spreadsheet you talking about, but I like this one.

It really boosted my trading skill because it gave me a range to do the bargaining so that both the seller and me are happy :D

Um, Cloak and Daggers (and yes, "Clock and Dagger" is misspelled) is a random drop item... Not only that, but Spy Token + PDA Token + Scrap has a 50% chance of crafting the Cloak and Dagger (and 50% chance of crafting the Dead Ringer). – user2974 Nov 18 '11 at 17:48

Due to some recent events last year, I would actually recommend against using tf2spreadsheet. backpack.tf provides a much more accurate and up-to-date table of prices, as everyone in the community contributes, not just a single (and revealed to be slightly dishonest) individual.

TF2WH can give you a good starting point. Except for unusuals, prices are determined automatically from supply and demand (price change list here) and your chances of landing a bad deal decrease accordingly.

The unit of measure there is a credit, a 4,500th of a refined metal. You can request prices for any item here. (TF2WH doesn't accept non-craftable items, for the record, and the prices reflect that.)

Just keep in mind that the prices are not necessarily aligned with what you'd get from users. The idiot box, for example, is priced at 900 credits, or less than two scraps... if you can find it there, given that apparently people are willing to buy an idiot box for a refined on tf2outpost. (Ugh.)
