In the Mac App Store, Aspyr is selling the following COD games for super inflated prices:

  • Call of Duty: $19.99
  • Call of Duty 2: $29.99
  • Call of Duty 4: $49.99

Why are they so expensive?

The price of an app in the Mac App Store is set by the publisher. Aspyr is charging so much for their ports because, presumably, they believe people are willing to pay those prices.

Mac games are generally significantly more expensive than PC games because for a while, Mac game development has lagged behind PC due to the greatly smaller numbers playing on Mac. Cod4 came out a year after the PC version, and as of yet, MW2 and Black Ops have not been released for Mac. So Cod4 is the most recent Call of Duty game for Mac. I am sure the price will drop once another CoD game is released. Remember, CoD4 was still in the $40-50 range on PC & xBox until MW2 was released. – SSumner Aug 11 '11 at 19:44
