I just tried, but keep getting error screen, thanks for advice.

I was finally able to get the game running on a copy of Windows XP hosted in VMware Workstation 8 for Windows 7:

Virtual success!

running a xp vm to start the game isn't really a feasible solution for a lot of people... –  z ' Aug 15 '12 at 0:16

Tried Windows 2000 or XP compatibility mode ?

i think all options have been tried, even tried Windwos 7 XP Mode Virtual Mahine, all just can't launch into the game. –  user15924 Dec 5 '11 at 14:26
if you happen to find a Windows 98 vmware image somewhere you can use with VMWare player, just boot into it enjoy the game. –  DrFish Dec 5 '11 at 15:16
