I've played quite a number of MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena) games before and I play games almost every day for extended periods of time. Which of these two games is more oriented and more rewarding for more "hardcore" gamers?

Also, which is better between DotA and DotA2? Should I stick with DotA because it's already complete and everything or should I go with DotA2 before it's finished? Is DotA2 buggy right now at all?

If you have a Dota2 key you're much better off playing in than DotA. A lot of the changes between the games in the interface will make you have to relearn a lot if you switch, so you might as well learn it right the first time. – Decency Mar 26 '12 at 3:52
For an actual answer, since this was closed, Dota2 is definitely more geared towards hardcore competitive players. It's harder to really get into but more rewarding when you do, in my opinion. – Decency Mar 26 '12 at 3:53
The garbage people spout... dota 2 requires more up-front time investment to be able to play the game (the learning curve is much, much steeper) but it is by no means more competitive. In fact, atm, the LoL professional scene is more developed and is 2nd only to Sc2 in popularity. Hardcore is just another word for obtuse or obscure. I play both, love playing both, and recommend you do the same. This isn't an either or situation. – Merritt Apr 19 '12 at 15:12

League of legends is a more casual of a game but still has a very competitive scene as for dota and dota 2 i always found that to be more of a serious tryhard every game kind of a moba.
