I cannot seem to get them all since I moved up to Noble.

Are there "better" and "worse" wonders? How should I choose which one to build?

In Civ V it's wholly dependent on what play-style you're going for, is it not like that in 4? – Nick T Apr 6 '12 at 5:07

The answer, as suggested by Nick, really depends on your playstyle and how you are going to try to win, by culture, by war, by tech. Try to be more specific, in the current state the question is too subjective. – Drake Apr 6 '12 at 6:38

Depends on your strategy, your situation, on which type of victory you are chasing.

It is enough if you grab the Wonders that really help your cause. It cannot really be said which are the Wonders you must build, you can win without building any of them. If you are a warmonger, you will find yourself occupying cities with Wonders instead. Building a Wonder eats up a lot of time and resources - you might be better off building something else instead, unless that Wonder really fits your strategy.

Let me give you a few examples (not an exhaustive list at all):

  • If you are going for a Cultural victory, Sistine Chapel, Eiffel Tower, Broadway, Hollywood, etc. can be exceptionally good.

  • If you start the game in a position when it's likely that a lot of Barbarians will attack you (near the tundra it's typical), Great Walls can be great (even more if you play with Raging Barbarians on).

  • In a Space Race, the Space Elevator is a huge help.

  • If you are Spiritual, you don't really need Cristo Redentor that much.

  • If you are Industrious, or you have the resources that help building a specific wonder (Stone, Marble, Gold, etc.), or both, the Wonder might be ready in a relatively few turns. It comes a bit cheaper, so you might want to grab it.

  • Having a lot of cities on the coast makes the Colossus and the Great Lighthouse really great.

  • If you are aiming at creating a lot of Great People, Parthenon is a must, and some others like The Great Library or The Mausoleum of Maussollos can be great either.

Analyze your situation, decide which Wonders you really need, and tech/build accordingly.
