I broke the DVD drive on my Xbox 360 while trying to JTAG it so that I could install XBMC or something similar on it.

Now I can't even update Xbox Live anymore nor do anything else except stream movies from my PC to the Xbox.

Is there any other way to install XBMC or similar software to the Xbox 360 or any other ideas to achieve the same without streaming from PC?

I'm not looking to play illegal games on it, ideas for that won't be necessary. The goal is to convert it into a media center.

For whoever cast a close vote, I believe that this question falls under "Game-specific hardware and utilities". The question itself is a bit indirect. The OP is essentially asking for a way to setup their 360 as a superior media center/player than it currently is, a task that is notably quite difficult. – skovacs1 May 13 '12 at 19:53
Although I can see why it might be considered too localized. If the OP broke something other than the DVD drive while trying to JTAG, there's really not much support that we can provide and the solution may be specific only to their case. – skovacs1 May 13 '12 at 21:08
