Why does the follower get trapped just before the battle with diablo? If you play in a coop game you can face diablo with other players at the same time, but when playing solo the game forces you to play the last battle alone.

Is there any specific reason for that?

AFAIK Diablo does not have an enrage timer. If you had a follower you could just run around the whole time and let your follower deal the damage. – ayckoster Aug 11 '12 at 14:07
