Arqade is a question and answer site for passionate videogamers on all platforms. It's 100% free, no registration required.

Certain buildings are described as having a positive effect on certain types of "nearby" buildings -- such as a Fire Station in "Cat-in-tree" mode improving housing quality, or the Salt Mine improving production of "nearby" canneries, or the upgraded fish farms in certain modes improving "nearby" seafood restaurants.

It doesn't really mention how far away you can build said buildings and still have it count as "nearby", however. Does anyone know or have some hard data on the maximum radius of "nearby" ?

A very interesting question, I never really considered this - And looking on the wiki it only states nearby, which indeed isn't much of a help. I presume it might vary depending on the building itself. I do own the game, but I didn't play it that much to really notice this. And as far as I can find there is no hard data on it. – Ruddie Aug 15 '12 at 13:56
As far as I know the 'nearby' radius of certain buildings can expand/contract depending on the amount of employees, but there is no hard data online – DarylF Aug 21 '12 at 14:20
In addition to @DarylF's comment, I believe it may also depend on having some teamsters nearby (the actual building, not the workers). – Nathan Nov 28 '12 at 3:35
Again that nebulous "nearby"... – Shadur Nov 28 '12 at 8:53
