I own an XBox with Kinect and a Wii. I would like to shoot humanoids on my television. I don't need a reason (i.e., no plot needed).

  1. Can I use the Xbox Kinect for this? Gunstringer kind of does this, but it's got a whole bunch of non-shooter stuff happening, too.
  2. If not, what accessories do I need for the Xbox?
  3. What accessories do I need for the Wii? Any advantages to Wii or Xbox for FPS games?
  4. What are some popular examples of first-person shooting games, especially those that have no particular storyline? I was particularly looking at Bodycount, but I don't want to play it with the Xbox controller. Can I buy/use a gun controller, and how much money must one spend for something that works?

I realize this question has some subjective pieces, but I don't think it's a "chatty, open-ended question" and I think it's "reasonably scoped." Also, I really just need some help, please. Thanks!

Hi @JamesJiao "popular examples of shooting games" is not really shopping advice, but I'm sure it's at risk. – Yar Aug 21 '12 at 22:55

Popular examples of shooting games is, however, a "Catalogue (listing games that fit specific criteria or are like an existing game)," which is sadly a prohibited question type. That said, it sounds like you're looking for light gun games? Ghost Squad for Wii is the one that comes to mind, although most shooters on the Wii are more or less light gun games (ie, Resident Evil 4) – agent86 Aug 21 '12 at 23:10

Nah, most of the Wii "guns" are just hunks of plastic. If you're comfortable with the Wiimote, you'll be fine. On the Xbox 360 side, there's only one gun I know of, and it's only for a couple of hunting games (ie, Cabella's so-and-so 2011 or what have you). Kinect support for anything approaching a light gun game is practically non-existent. – agent86 Aug 21 '12 at 23:21
