According to this list, it seems that most PS2 games that have online play have already been shut down, and I expect that sooner or later, the rest will go away, too.

But I like my PS2, and I have no problem with using an old console, if it's still fun, or useful!

Can I use the network capability for anything else? (I know a few games support LAN play.) Like, is there a web browser, or a way to stream internet radio or Hulu or Youtube, or something like that?

Sadly no. There is no web browser, no radio, no Hulu/Netflix/Youtube on the PS2. Since most of the online capability for games have been removed, you basically have a PS2 that is good for PS1/PS2 games, music (via disc), and dvd's. – leety Sep 17 '12 at 17:12
Like you said, some games support LAN play. Other than that, there's not much you can do with it. – fbueckert Sep 17 '12 at 17:26

The only thing I can think of is that you can use the Open PS2 Loader to launch your games.

Basically, you put ISO images of your games on a Samba webshare and you can run them - no CDs/DVDs involved.
