I heard a lot of changes have been made related to iron golem farms. There's an atmosphere of pessimism around iron golem farms after 1.2.2. I'm gonna follow this tutorial on creating an iron golem farm. The title says it is compatible with 1.3.2 but I'm not that sure.

What has really changed during the history of minecraft regarding iron and iron golems? Can we still properly farm iron golems? Is it worth it?

@BlueRaja-DannyPflughoeft, before I try to create a iron golem farm (that took me 2 hours last time, back in the old versions) I want to see if it worth something. –  Jefffrey Oct 9 '12 at 11:24

You probably can still farm iron since the Minecraft Wiki and list of changes do not say anything about changing Iron Golem behavior (though it does bother me that Herobrine is removed so many times without being put back in first), so it should work.

According to the Minecraft Wiki on Iron Golems:

      Official release
12w08a Added Iron Golems.
1.2 Preview Added mechanical and stomping sounds for the Iron Golem.

         Upcoming
12w32a Iron Golems will now attack slimes.

Yes, farming as described in your referenced video still works. it's just very slow.
