I own a new dedicated minecraft server, the craftbukkit is running, but I double checked, I'm in the whitelist.txt and I get this error:

"Disconnected by Server"

Failed to verify username, session authentication server unavailable!

Can anyone help? This is the last step I need to connect to my own new server. Sorry it's completely private cannot give out connection information.

I think I made a workaround but not what I wanted. I had to turn 'online mode' to off or I cannot connect. Good thing I can still do the whitelist. – kcmartz Nov 27 '12 at 5:20
Your server can't reach minecraft.net for some reason. Is your server unable to see the rest of the Internet? If that's not a problem, could be Mojang's having auth server issues. It happens. – SevenSidedDie Nov 27 '12 at 6:11
I'm not sure how do I ping minecraft.net for example via the Craftbukkit CLI? – kcmartz Nov 27 '12 at 16:21
There's no server command in CB to ping outside IPs. Do you have shell access? If not, what web control panel does your host use? – SevenSidedDie Nov 27 '12 at 17:24

Then the Ubuntu machine has a problem either with its networking configuration, or there's a problem with some part of the network it's supposed to be connecting to the Internet through. Either way, it's not a problem with Minecraft so it's not on-topic for Arqade. Your friend will have to fix the server's connection; if he needs help, SuperUser.com would be the place to ask. – SevenSidedDie Nov 30 '12 at 1:42
