Majority of ultrabooks today are available with choice of i3, i5 or i7 processor with same video card used: Intel HD4000. For example, given Sony Duo 11, where are 3 configurations: with i3-3217U, i5-3317U and i7-3517U processors.

How can i figure out what FPS actual games will have (like Diablo 3, Starcraft 2, etc) if started on all 3 notebooks with same grphics settings? I have tried notebookcheck and google, but where are no direct comarison for same notebook models and same game graphics settings with different processors :(.

Just to let you know, the Intel HD4000 will probably be more of a limiting factor than your i3 vs i5 vs i7. – Echo Dec 4 '12 at 16:07

@Echo This is exactly the thing i want to figure out. The problem is: i5 and i7 has some "turbo" technology that can increase frequensy from 1.7Ghz to 2.6Ghz, for example. I fear that this can have a huge impact on the FPS difference between i3 and i5, so maybe where is some comparison of same notebook model wth different CPU's – Eye of Hell Dec 4 '12 at 16:37

You can't, there are simply too many variables to consider: RAM, motherboard, GPU, the game and its settings, other processes, OS, etc. A good i3 or an i5 will be sufficient to run most AAA titles adequately. If, on the other hand, you want to run CPU-intensive games like Dwarf Fortress or emulate recent consoles like the PS2, you will want to get the best processor you can afford (Best in this case means top single core performance).

It's exactly the reason i'm interested in comparison of same notebook model, same game and same graphic settings, so the only difference is the CPU used. I fear that "boost" tecnology of i5+ processors can greatly affect performance compared to i3. – Eye of Hell Dec 4 '12 at 16:40
