I want to order scribblenauts unlimited from america because I do not wanna wait till it comes out in the UK. With consoles you can get the problem that foreign games won't work(learned that the hard way).

Is it at least safe to order scribblenauts?

@kotekzot - Good edit. However, where the previous version was bordering on NaRQ, isn't this one now Too Localized? – Iszi Dec 6 '12 at 15:25
Note: My initial suggestion of Too Localized was primarily because it was a general question that's now been narrowly focused to one particular version of a certain game being used in one particular region. However, it's perhaps more important that this will no longer be a major concern to most people when the UK version comes out. – Iszi Dec 6 '12 at 15:43

PC games are 100% region free. There is no way to enforce any sort of region lock. – fbueckert Dec 6 '12 at 15:46
@fbueckert Perhaps, but then the question becomes one of technical compatibility. While I wouldn't expect problems going between U.S. and U.K., it is conceivable that games could be written in such a way as to be dependent on keyboard layouts or other software codes that are region specific. – Iszi Dec 6 '12 at 15:49
@Iszi I think we'd need to close quite a few questions if questions applicable to only 1 game were considered too localized. Also, due to the open nature of the PC, it is trivial to amend any local indications of a computer's region. – kotekzot Dec 6 '12 at 16:32

According to media reports, the Wii U will be region locked, so it would not be safe to order from a different region than you will be playing in for the Wii U.

With the PC version, it seems unlikely they could come up with a reliable way to region lock software, so it seems safe to do so for the PC version.

This question was specifically tagged for the PC. Answers specific to the Wii are irrelevant. Speculation is also not helpful. – Iszi Dec 6 '12 at 15:32
Yeah, I had a second paragraph that didn't get posted the first time. – Don Simon Dec 6 '12 at 15:33
The edit is good in that it addresses the PC, but it is still bad in that it is pure speculation - it does not offer any reference or authoritative evidence to support the presumption. – Iszi Dec 6 '12 at 15:34

It is hard to provide evidence of something that doesn't exist. – Don Simon Dec 6 '12 at 15:41

You can provide evidence, at least anecdotally, based on your own personal experience or professional knowledge. For example, if you yourself have bought the U.S. version of the game and played it on a PC built for U.K. localization. Or, you could reference an official announcement or forum posting regarding such compatibility. Or, you could cite past experience with playing several U.S. games on U.K. localized systems. – Iszi Dec 6 '12 at 15:45
