What are Blizzard plans with regards to existing Starcraft 2 - Wings of Liberty Battle.NET accounts?

Will they be linked/migrated to the expansion game (keeping ranks and achievements)?

Or will gamers need to have a separate account to play Wings of Liberty and Heart of the Swarm?

I think this is getting closed because it's speculation of an unreleased product. However, that being said, I am not sure why you think you need a separate B.net account o play the games. What makes you think that? Given Blizzard's history, the two are separate games and there is absolutely no reason for Blizzard to reset your achievements in one game to accommendate another. WoW is a good example. –  deutschZuid Dec 12 '12 at 1:42

They will be two separated games much like BW and Vanilla SC. Too lazy to find a source. Either way, it's not speculation, as they've confirmed their intentions. –  Decency Dec 12 '12 at 2:24

Partially speculation, but not really. The beta will behave exactly like the full product. I don't see why it wouldn't be just like every other Blizzard game; added to your account, playable as separate games. –  Frank Dec 12 '12 at 3:37

Your Battle.NET account is linked to all Battle.NET games you own - Warcraft, Starcraft 1 & 2 etc. The mechanism they use for this is the Activation Key - an account can have keys for different games associated with it.

When you preorder Heart of the Swarm through Battle.NET it is already linked to your account.

If you preorder/buy from elsewhere - when you log in with your Battle.NET account in-game, the game should be associated with your account automatically.

So yes, your achievements in another game will still be linked with all your other games, so long as you use the one account.
