For my birthday, my dad bought me a Dell XPS L501X since I needed a new laptop (I'm currently using an Asus which is just TERRIBLE.). I mainly wanted a new laptop so I could game and apparently this dell has better specs than my dads dell, which my SRL can run some good games. I don't know all the specs but the important(?) ones I know are: -Intel Core i7-740QM Processor (1.73GHz, 4Core/8Threads, turbo boost up to 2.93Ghz, 6M cache) -8GB 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM (2 x 4GB) -NVIDIA GeForce GT 435M graphics -Waves MaxxAudio V3.0 audio enhancements -640GB 7200RPM Hard Drive

So would this laptop be able to run games fine? Or did I get the wrong type of laptop? Thanks

If you have a specific game in mind, ask about it. Otherwise, this question is too broad to be answered and is more suitable to HW forums, and not this site. – Ilya Melamed Jan 1 at 13:38
Hi Aimad, and welcome to Arqade! This question isn't really a good fit for our Q&A style. We try to go for questions that'll have a long lasting impact. However, once you gain enough reputation, you'll be able to post a question like this in chat. As an aside, yes that laptop should be fine for at least medium duty gaming. – MBraedley Jan 1 at 13:43
This borders on a couple of types of questions which we don't really allow - "can I run X?" questions, and shopping advice. The linked meta has some good general advice, though. I'd probably go to canyourunit and put your specs in, along with the games you intend to play. – agent86 Jan 1 at 14:18
You'll be able to run most games at moderate-low settings fine (with 40-60 FPS), but I wouldn't expect to be able to crank up the settings and have a fluid framerate. – Lemmings19 Jan 1 at 19:55
