I've been doing quite a bit of research on this topic (reading FAQs, watching replays, and consulting with others) in the last few weeks, and I think I can put together a pretty good strategic overview at this point. Know Your Role In CoD multiplayer games, you are generally doing one of three things: Defending - You have an established position and you ...

Take your time It's slightly heading towards being a camper, but take your time. You don't need to run all the time, only run at times where you know you are very unlikely to be shot or can do anything about it if you are. It's a little bit frustrating, but then balance that with having to respawn. For example, stairwells - no point walking slowly up them ...

Peer to Peer servers. As seen in games like Left 4 Dead and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. These are difficult to administrate. Provide value to donators. This can be in the form of admin privs, reserved slots, statistics ( e.g. kill to death ratio over couple months, leaderboards etc ), special events, etc. Offer to setup video game servers for free. Some ...

Camping is a pretty powerful strategy in CoD multiplayer, and it's not just a problem in Demolition, although it is arguably worse there than in most modes once you've taken out one bomb site. The problem with breaking a solid camping strategy is that it generally only takes limited cooperation between a couple of players to set up a good camp, but it takes ...

Most all Call of Duty games simply use the same matchmaking process that you're used to on consoles (much to the lament of PC gamers), so you probably wont notice much of a difference - you don't need to use the Server browser at all. However, the option is there in Modern Warfare 3 (and I assume Black Ops 2), and it's really quite simple to use. First, you ...

You can play the second game and still understand everything that is going on without playing the first Black Ops, one follows the story of Alex Mason, while Black Ops II follows the story of his son, David Mason. I personally did not have the first Black Ops, neither did I ever play the campaign mode of it. When I played through the Black Ops 2 campaign ...

There are only two story lines in the Call of Duty series: The Modern Warfare (MW) series (COD4: MW, MW 2, MW 3) The Black Ops series (COD: Black Ops, Black Ops 2) Other than that, the story lines for each game are individual and unrelated. If you feel like the story line in MW3 is worth experiencing in full, you should play COD 4: Modern Warfare, it's ...

It can't be done without resorting to piracy, and perhaps not then.

I can't seem to find a good listing of the differences online, so I'll try to compile a short list. If you're interested in my personal opinion, I discussed my feelings about the major changes here. (warning: personal blog link) The first thing to note is that Modern Warfare 3 follows Modern Warfare 2 pretty closely, and isn't as related to Black Ops. ...

Sice could be a combination of slice, i.e. a melee attack with a knife and the sound a knife makes when its pulled from its sheath. Think of movies when someone pulls a sword out of sheath. What sound does it make? It sounds like "sice".

which call of duty? i did find this site which purports to have links to download and (unofficial) linux server for CoD4 - it will require some windows files from the CD. pardon my ignorance regarding the later games, but do they have separate windows server applications that could be used with something like WINE?

I would also advise you to look into setting up a peer-to-peer based service..with the added concept of partial centralization. Basically this says: make a program to spread network info to all computers who are logged in, maintain one or two PCs as servers on some basic connections (or the best you can easily get) just to help with indexing so your client ...

Got it. The map is Clan Cottage

I feel that you should run and gun, but be super careful. I started out slow, crouching and moving everywhere. I had my sensitivity low so I could get a clean kill (not a sloppy spray that you get when you are surprised) and I stick to the walls. Eventually I started sprinting again, but using the same principles. Never sprint around corners, flash or ...

It depends on game you are talking about. For example in Minecraft (multiplayer mode) you have: Client mods that help you a bit (mostly interface mods) no need server mod Client/Server mods that may heavily modify gameplay and need mod installed on server and on client of the same version (mostly) Server mods that improve some server functionality ...

Generally what I do, is get all explosived up, and wait for one team member. Grab as many explosives as you can, sticky's, crossbow and the like. Once you have a team member going towards the enemies camping site, try to stick as much as you can even if it gets you killed. The enemies will spawn further away and you can get back about when they do. If your ...

Jumping in CoD does add to the inertia of a grenade. With good timing and aim, you can achieve much greater throw distances. Just make sure you don't lob too high, or it will obviously timeout in midair

The following Call of Duty's support LAN-play on the PS3: Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Call of Duty 5: World at War Call of Duty 6: Modern Warfare 2 Call of Duty 7: Black Ops Call of Duty 8: Modern Warfare 3 Call of Duty 9: Black Ops 2 Call of Duty 10: Ghosts Situation for MW2: (I'm not quite sure but I think the concept is the same for all) Each ...

Both Infinity Ward and Treyarch refresh their servers regularly. As I stated in a comment, it can take up to 3 days to update.

In order for people who are not on the same LAN as you to connect to a sever you must do something called port forwarding. This basically maps a port in your external IP address to a specific machine on your network, this way, when someone connects to your IP with that port it knows which computer in the network to connect to.

I had this issue and it turns out that my second controller constantly thought it had a headset plugged in. Thus, giving you the mic icon in the chat window, disabling your kinect for chat and no speech coming out of speakers. Try using your second controller as the first player and see if the kinect chat feature works.

If the second player is a silver account, the online chat feature will turn off as that account seems to take precedence when playing online. If you want to chat while playing with a silver account player, you will have to use a headset. This was a suggested answer off of the Xbox forums to a perhaps identical problem. Source: ...

Without knowing the inner workings of their matchmaking algorithm, first and foremost I believe the matchmaking is by location-- or more specifically, connection speed, which usually means location as well. It searches for other consoles whose ping is under a certain threshold, and if it finds none, it increases the threshold until a good game is found. As ...

In MW3, I think they build the lobbies according to your geographical situation, due to the lack of dedicated servers. That way, if the people you are playing with are not too far from you, the game will suffer less lag. This is just theoretically, as I live in France and often end up with english-and-other-languages-speaking players...

Beat the stragglers and get air support. Flank or suprise your enemy. Campers on console have lag (since connection works in saying where you are and what your doing) I.e. If you jump around a corner they've been sitting for a while, you have the advantage in timing, and showing on their screen slighty later than you actually there (normally 0.6 of second ...

System in Black Ops is (at least on the pc version): get x kills with y and get z CoD credits. These credits can then be used to buy any upgrades you have unlocked levelwise. Ie. get 10 kills with the Galil might give you 500 credits, which you can buy all the stuff you have unlocked so far. So you can't buy a weapon that is only available at lvl 50 if you ...

I am at a strange stage in my player development. Half the time I am one of the top three players in a game and the other half I look like I just bought the game. I only started to hold my own when I realized how to pay close attention to other player's habits. Sometimes the top players know what works and utilizes the same plan over and over again because ...

Find your gun that you are most successful with and then set up perks that will really make that particular gun shine. After that you just need to learn in which spots that setup will be effective and in which spots it will not. Generally on every map you can find places with varying distances between cover. If you have a lot of cover and not much open ...

You simply just have to practice some more, I have been playing COD right from PC, to PS3, I have all the COD games on PS3 and over the years during online plays, you get to see other players that are way better but don't just give up like that. It only takes a better player to win other better players and for me, the same thing you're saying was happening ...

The price of an app in the Mac App Store is set by the publisher. Aspyr is charging so much for their ports because, presumably, they believe people are willing to pay those prices.
