According to the developers, Dark Souls is not a direct sequel of Demon's Souls but a spiritual successor. So the story are not related even though the mechanics are really close, and the game are made by the same director and producer. From an interview of the game director Hidetaka: "What we we want to clear up is this is actually not a sequel to ...

This FAQ seems to answer the question. Here's the relevant part: BOSS BATTLE : VANGUARD [BV] This boss wasn't meant to be defeated, but stories of the hardcore prevailing are many. It has 2 slashes, a direct overhead slash, and a horizontal forward slash. Not only that, but it also has a body press attack when players ...

I've checked out a few sources, and it looks like it is possible to acquire PSN trophies while offline. They just don't sync up to your online profile until the next time you sign-on.

I bought my PS3 a few months ago, and the first game I bought was Demon's Souls, and I had no problem with the controls. I also never owned a PlayStation console before (although my sister had a PS2, for which I played through a couple games). As such, no. The controls shouldn't add any additional difficulty to the game - and if you did find some due to ...

Generally you want to plan your route based on your class. Each level has different equipment sets lying around for you to pick up. That having been said, I would personally go something like 1-1, 1-2 (1-2 is really quick), 4-1 (so you have access to a good farming spot, plus the regen ring and crescent falchion), 3-1 (there are 2 or 3 armor sets here, and ...

In order to turn back into Body Form from Soul Form, you need to either: Kill a boss Invade someone else's game as a Black Phantom and kill the host Use a Stone of Ephemeral Eyes Become summoned as a Blue Phantom and kill the boss Become summoned as a Blue Phantom and kill the host of the game I wouldn't worry too much about being in Soul Form. It's ...

They simply divide an area from another. If you put down a soul sign (using the blue eye stone or red eye stone) it will disappear if you enter an area marked with a fog barrier. (you will have to put down again the sign if you want to be summoned) Consider them as doors to other areas of the level. No big deal ;)

Since asking this question I managed to beat him. This is how I did it: My equipment: Left Hand: Purple Flame Shield +9, Talisman of Beasts Right Hand: Crescent Falchion +4, Sticky Compound Short Bow +5 (normal arrows) Magic: Warding I think any decent sword/shield combo would work, as would a Catalyst instead of the Talisman. Any bow would be fine. ...

In regards to your first question, yes. So long as the shield is in your active equipment slot, you will receive bonuses from it. The easiest way to test this is with the Adjudicators Shield, which grants you health regeneration. As for your second question, no. You only receive bonuses from the equipment in your active equipment slot.

Yes, it is certainly possible. None of the Trophies for Demon's Souls are based around online features of the game. PS3Trophies.Org has a list of the trophies and information on how to achieve them which corroborates this.

Souls you can just pick up from various places: Unknown Soldier's Soul: 200 Unknown Hero's Soul: 400 Renowned Soldier's Soul: 800 Renowned Hero's Soul: 1,000 Storied Soldier's Soul (or Traditional Soldier's Soul): 2,000 Storied Hero's Soul (or Traditional Hero's Soul): 4,000 Legendary Soldier's Soul: 8,000 Legendary Hero's Soul: 10,000 Souls that you get ...

You will need another play through. The reason for that is that you are not able to carry over items from a friend's game to your own. I should point out that Demon's Souls has a New Game+ mode (along with New Game++, New Game+++, et cetera), which increases the difficulty of the game, and carries over your items and levels from your first game. New Game+ ...

Yes; there are a few things in fact. The first, as pointed out by Jim Bolia, the world have different tendencies - white and black. This determines the difficulty of enemies, souls dropped, et cetera. At Pure White World or Pure Black world tendency, however - the maps themselves sometimes change. New paths may open up, or an additional (unique) enemy may ...

From the new game plus page on the demons souls wiki: What will be carried over The following items will carry over from one NG lifecycle to the subsequent NG lifecycle (e.g. from NG+ to NG++) All Consumables and Upgrade Stones. This includes Eye Stones, which enables you to summon phantoms in 1-1 All Demon's Souls All Weapons, Armor and ...

I'm a Royalty and this is how I'm doing it: 1-1. easy level 1-2. tower knight is easy because I can cast / take cover when he shoots his laser 2-1. less linear stage where you need to pull a lot of levers... etc. spider is easy, since you can take cast / take cover when she shoots fireballs (you need to roll to dodge spider webs, or else you get really ...

No, the controller does not add artificial difficulty to Demon's Souls. Actually, the controls are very good, in my opinion. The tutorial at the beginning of the game does a good job of teaching you the controls, so make sure you play through it.

No, you will not. Online Play in Demon's Souls requires the server to function. It will not work over LAN.

It is actually easier to get all achievements when playing offline the whole time because online play tends to screw with your world tendency.

Co-op experience in Demon's Souls is a bit limited. First of all you can play with a friend only for a single level, and only in levels where you have not defeated the Boss Demon yet. Whether you complete the boss fight or die in the other players world you will always be transferred back to your world. A player can be summoned in another player world ...

I think the purpose is for you to be afraid of entering, like in 1-2, the fog leads to Tower Knight... 2-2 the fog leads to framelurker and so on. If are entering the fog for the first time you should be afraid of what lies beyond ;)

I started out as a noble (L1) and poured everything into the magic skill until it was about 27. It was awesome for a bit because I could kill the metal skelatons in 2 hits in the storm place and rack up even more souls which i poured further into magic. Then I ran into a snag. I was leaping off the cliffs in the storm place after killing the skeletons ...

While I cannot say I have hands on experience with the Magician class (other than trying it out for a bit), several recommended builds suggest that what you really want to up, at least in the long run, is MAG. Of course, this is not what you wanted to know, but I did find this quote from a discussion regarding the possibility of playing a pure magic user ...

Fire spray usually works well, since you can move while casting. (But this won't work when they're already in your face.) Melee attack also worked well for me. When I was going through 3-2 I had a fairly decent Moon Short Sword and could take them down with 3-4 hits. My aim was to kill them with successive hits, not allowing them to swing their swords. ...

I've been using a few methods: Fire Spray Sword (usually my Crescent Falchion) Arrows But since obtaining the Firestorm spell I've been using that with much more success (though still not a perfect record). Which method I use depends on the circumstances though: I use Fire Spray if the crystal lizard is alone and I can afford to chase it (ie. it won't ...

You can't redeem souls until after you beat the Phalanx boss and talk to the monumental. She has 4 or 5 locations that I remember her at. The easiest way to find her if she is not at one of those locations is to warp to world and then warp back to the nexus. (she is usually standing next to the world of the last world you warped from)

Although both games do not belong to the same universe, they share at least a common character (Patches).

No. Lock range never increases. The best you can do is use the Thief Ring so that you can get closer to enemies before they spot you.

Magic has no affect on defensive spells such as Protection, Warding, and Water Veil.

I used a Crescent Falchion, and magic regen ring, fairly light armor, Dark Heater Shield +4, and Warding and Soul Ray (also had heal and Evacuate, but I did a kind of wonky magic+miracles build). I did my best to keep him at a distance. I especially noticed that he likes to do the big explosion thing 2-3 times in a row, it takes him a minute to charge and ...
