I used to have this confusion when I started dragon vale too, the sphere hovering over their head just means you've fed the dragon over level 10. you can remove it by clicking on the crown on the bottom right corner when viewing your dragon. hope this helps :)

It is very smart, but I don't totally agree. I am trying to get another elder dragon and I was trying not to go under 1,000,000,000 money in my game and the only way for me to get enough food is to grow berry baubles and those cost WAY too much to grow constantly

I bred a double rainbow dragon by breeding a rainbow dragon and another rainbow dragon. It worked after 2 days waiting for it to breed and another 2 days and 12 hours of waiting and got a double rainbow dragon.

The Spheres are basically just a way of signifying the level of your dragon. If you get a dragon to level 10 a sphere pops up on top of their head. Even if you put the dragon into the fountain of youth, it will still have the sphere above its head.
