Some of the Seasonal Events added in the recent update (1.05) have very good prizes. So far I've only attempted the 493hp GT-R race but coming 3rd gave me 340,000. This update has also increased the rewards for winning races, but this is only in effect until the end of January 2011. See ...

The differences in a harder or softer tire compound include not only the maximum amount of grip available, and a theoretical maximum distance on each set that was identified by both you and Wonea, but most importantly compound affects how quickly the tire will heat up. The speed in which the tire heats along with the track temperatures will make most of ...

I think the reason they've implemented the "Delivery" system is that they're keen for you to have at least one look at all the cars you receive. The whole GT Life mode seems geared towards giving the player an experience of a range of cars throughout history, so they don't want you to have cars just appear in your garage that you never notice. So no, I ...

The PS3 supports the configuration of a proxy server in the Network Configuration. It can be any HTTP proxy server. So you could try to run a simple proxy server on your computer, and point the PS3 to it. Then, the proxy should be able to resume the download if the connection breaks, assuming it is setup as a caching proxy server.

IMO The main reasons are High profile AAA titles (like GT5) are very large and even with fast internet speeds would take a long time to download and put huge strain on the PSN infrastructure, as potentially millions of people would want to download it at once. Smaller indie and older titles are not so big and dont have the same huge release day pressure ...

I would imagine they do it to make more money on new games. Most games in the online store I've seen are priced around $20 to $25. Most physical games cost $50 to $60 when they are first released, which probably includes several dollars in per-unit cost for manufacturing and materials. Despite the manufacturing cost, I think selling a game on the store ...

If you are just after money and don't mind "playing unconventionally" (i.e. cheating) there is something you can do. I have only read about this and have not tried it. The basic idea is: Get yourself one of the Forumla One cars (e.g. the X2010) Choose a race on one of the indy tracks (Like the Wind, or Dream Car Championship) Using a rubber-band on ...

Unfortunately, there's no way of doing this for game updates at the moment. You can update your PS3 firmware by downloading it onto a compatible USB stick but at the moment I can't find any official source regarding doing the same for game updates. Hopefully this is something that will be added - just because your PS3 is not online, it doesn't mean you ...

As far as tuning guides go, give these links link link a try. They will show you most of the tuning-related information you're looking for, but to summarize the GT5 tuning process, here are a few quick tips: For any of the tuning upgrades that you can buy, more is almost always better. In other words, the more money you spend, the better your car will ...

Corv1nus' answer is probably the easiest way to get the trophy, but if you want to do it "properly" then the first NASCAR race is still the best way to go. Just race as normal (normal for NASCAR racing anyway - it's all about drafting), move to the front and sit in behind the lead car. Then it's just a matter of timing your overtake so you get in front on ...

I used the Mugen Motul Civic to win it first time round. I took advantage of the fully customizable transmission to improve the low end acceleration and basically shorten all the gears (i don't see the point in long gears to achieve a theoretical top speed I don't have enough track to reach). I had the performance set to PP420. Since I have used the MR-2 ...

Quoting from the Gran Turismo FAQ: What is the role of the host in an online race event? Last Updated: Dec 24, 2007 In the online gameplay (Star type) of Gran Turismo 5 Prologue there is a host player. The host has the following two roles: (1) Manages the start and end of races. (2) Performs the communication between all ...

The GT5 Cars website lists all the cars in GT5 and allows you to search on particular criteria. Search for cars from the United States and then sort the results by P/W (power to weight ratio). I'd suggest picking one of the Chaparral cars or one the Ford GT LM cars, as they're MR layout which should handle better than FR.

Ask everyone to open the ports in their router, GT5 Prologue reports: Gran Turismo 5 Prologue online uses the following ports for communication with game servers. If you experience problems connecting to online races, you may want to check the status of these ports in your router or firewall to see if they are being blocked or filtered. Your router ...

If you increase the downforce front and rear this should make the car a lot more stable. Adjusting the limited-slip differential can also make a significant difference to the car's handling. I found increasing the settings helped a lot, particularly accelerating out of low-speed corners.

I would say the best way to earn money quickly is the Special Events. Some of them like the Jeff Gordon NASCAR Racing school can be pretty quick to go through, and they will get you a lot of Credits and Experience for each one you complete. I just did the Intermediate one last night and got roughly $50k per event. The downside is that once you have ...

There is a new event that came out about a week ago called "La Festa Cavallino". Basically buy a stock Ferrari 458 Italia, upgrade it as much as you can (including Racing Soft tires), adjust the transmission so the top speed is like 215 and do the "Circuit de la Sarthe 2009" race. The race is 1 lap long, takes about 3'50", and gains you 168,000 credits for a ...

Well right now the Seasonal Events has a Muscle Car Championship race, gives you 305,000 for first. My best time is 4:09. So that's about 3.7 mil every hour. But gets kinda of tiring after a while. I try to keep it interesting by buying every car that is eligible for that race and seeing which one's the fastest. So far I've only tried two: '70 ...

This page contains videos of someone drifting different cars in GT5 in the series "How to Drift Gran Turismo 5 Cars". If you find this answer useless( which I hope you don't ), then please tell me.

You could backup your save to a memory stick before opening the ticket. Then open it from the save on you HDD. If not happy with the gift, then copy the backup back to the HDD and try again. A lot of work though.. and might be considered cheating ;D But at least its a posibility.

Level your driver up a bit more and it should be a lot easier. I'd suggest trying it again when your driver is up to level 30. Also, are you monitoring your driver and giving him instructions? Many B-spec races can be won by simply leaving the driver to get on with it, but Monaco is one where you'll need to constantly monitor your driver. Changing the ...

Saves on the PS3 are generally inextricably linked to a PSN ID, in order to prevent cheating. So even if you copied the save game files to another account or another PS3 you would not be able to access them without logging in to the associated PSN account. I would try contacting Sony's customer support, they may be able to help you recover the account ...

There are no definite solutions to this problem, but there are several suggestions online on how to resolve this. I'll note some of them here: Since the 749 is a network connection error, there are a few things that can be done in your router configuration settings. 1. Gran Turismo 5 online uses the following ports for communication with game servers. If ...

According to this article which cites the Playstation Magazine: My Lounge supports voice chat for up to 32 players and lets you host 16-player online races... (Emphasis added) This would lead me to believe that the My Lounge matches are hosted by a player and not on PSN servers.

I didn't experiment with Spec-B much, but I believe I got to level 12 or so and I found that your level is much more important than the driver. I had a few drivers (one aggressive, one slightly less aggressive, one more averaged) and I found that the higher level I got, the drivers level mattered much less... My lvl 6 driver was barely any better than my ...

I know you're looking for GT5 guides, but I really don't see any. Here is a great video showing a guy drifting a TVR Tamora on an asphalt track. Notice the white and red bars on the bottom left side of the screen (throttle and brake, respectively). He's being very delicate except for the last turn. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ScHVTmV-3Wo I have had the ...

I believe there is no "unlock" for features. Damage is in, and can be turned on in some modes. Weather effects appear in certain races (marked "change weather/time" in selections). Some higher level and special races have rules like no skid recovery, but no new magic will appear otherwise. Software updates constantly provide more features, of course.

I know that the various race types in a-spec mode are unlocked when you reach certain levels. The extreme series is at lv25 if I recall, and the super red bull challenge thing is at lv30. There is a fuller list of unlocks over here, http://www.cheatcc.com/ps3/granturismo5cheatscodes.html
