The Pro Evolution Soccer series has a long history starting on PlayStation 2 as Pro Evolution Soccer released in 2001. Prior to that that the Series was know as International Superstar Soccer first released on Super Nintendo in 1997.
Published by Konami Computer Entertainment the series has been driven by Shingo "Seabass" Takatsuka who remains as the creative leader of the series.
Although the series still lacks the license of the English Premier League it has notable other official licenses such as the UEFA Champions League and Europa Cup. It also has detailed editing capabilities built in to the game to allow ease of rectifying the lack of licenses either manually or through un-official database downloads.
Christian Ronaldo was retained from last year as the cover star replacing Lional Messi in 2012.
