Yes you can! You can potentially turn off all other education buildings after building a university - all education buildings convert kids into students and subsequently enrol that student, however each education building provides a different level of education and influences the tech level of your industry. Thus, I present to you Arcadia! Here is how ...

Yes - the water table does replenish The water table in SimCity is replenished from the following sources; Rain Water from shorelines Sewage treatment plants Other cities Outflow pipes from industrial buildings Rain is not a reliable source of replenishment but does contribute. Due to its random nature (it never rains when you want it to) you should ...

I'll take a stab at this. First thing is to draw your main avenue out. Second, look at the direction of the wind. Note this direction because you want to place industry down wind and inital water away from that industry. In my case its north towards my highway, meaning my industry/dirty polluting things will be at the top. There are two ways to go ...

Land value and happiness are separate concepts. Land value aka desirability encourage wealthier sims to move in. Happiness encourages density increases. Residential happiness comes from shopping! Having had the Arcology built for the last few days, I've been studying what exactly its doing. Here's the current stats of my Arcology: Operating/Constructing Arcology costs 1,000,000 (just one city pays this fee) and requires 1,000 Alloy, 2,800 Metal, 60,000 TVs (entire region can help with goods) to construct. One thing to remember is each city in ...

It turns out you can. When in the edit view for the building, you may select the bulldozer to demolish a specific expansion. Not in the normal city view, otherwise you'll bulldoze the entire building! I was able to move the coal shafts to better locations.

There is no way to erase or restart a city without deleting the entire region. Your best option is to start another city in the region, develop a stable economy, and then send a gift of §§ to the failed city to get it back on its feet. If there are other players in the region that would like to try to salvage the city, you can open it up to them by ...

No you can not skip the tutorial as this is how you register on a server. However, you can just exit out of the tutorial after you have started it and then continue to play on the server. It seems that just getting into the tutorial is enough to do this registration, you do not have to play through it.

To answer this I'm going to need to establish some criteria for "ideal". I'm going to assume that most people are interested in the most efficient use of a given space for high density buildings allowing you to stuff as much population/commerce/jobs into your city as possible. Luckily the game itself provides an excellent tool to help you with this. Turning ...

Traffic is something my friends and I have spent a bit of time on as it is the major choke point in every city. Surely it should be simple enough to figure out. I ran a stopwatch to figure out how much real world time it takes for some nice number of in-game time. With Origin, you can install as many copies as you like. But when you start the game, you need to log in Origin. You cannot login at two different computers at the same time. I'm updating/changing my answer to reflect that there much better general understanding of how the game/glassbox engine works (basically sims are as smart as the sim poo in all of the promo videos). Simcity 2013 is much more (than previous SimCity versions) about going back and upgrading old buildings (either with plopables or by bulldozing and replacing) ...

Many structures in SimCity create a radius zone when you place them, this radiant is shown as either a circle around the structure or dots along the roads depending on the kind of structure you're placing. Parks and plazas create a radius zone, as do schools and police. Each of these structures provides an increase to land value for properties within that ...

Ground pollution typically stems from your handling of sewage. You are quite limited in your options to handle sewage, but must do so in order for your city to be properly inhabitable. You basically have three options: Build a sewage outflow pipe. This option produces the highest amount of ground pollution, but is your only option in the early game without ...

You have a problem with people turning left at that first intersection. If everyone turns the same way, it effectively turns the road into a single lane road. Address this by making sure that people who turn right and go straight can still reach destinations on the left. Cars do not always take the shortest route, so some will take the alternate routes. ...

"we need money" - solve this one first. This message means there are residential workers which cannot find work. Switch to residential view and look for the buildings with low money bars. Step 1: Look at unsold goods. Bulldoze commercial of appropriate wealth levels until unsold goods are close to 0. Now those commercials will be taking in the right number of workers for the goods required. I expect this will free up ~2000 workers in your case. Step 2: Bulldoze high density industrial... constrain it to medium density. You don't need ...

Most areas are "good enough" to make a self-sufficient city. I have yet to rely on another city for stability. That being said, cooperation is important for a specialized city to reach maximum efficiency. Once you've established the basics, the limited city area leaves you with little room to expand buildings important to your specialization. For example, ...

The answer, in fact, is yes. Upon very close inspection, I noticed that bus stops/stations, streetcar stops/stations, train stations, and ship terminals ALL are detrimental to the highest wealth land value. This is not made clear at all by any tooltip in the game. Each of the mass transit options indicate that they transport low- and medium-wealth sims ...
