I have heard similarly weird thing about hunters, basically just making enough to feed themselves. But I have always found them very very effective (like 1000 meat for 3 workers). Maybe both of these buildings rely on some hidden populations? Maybe my lake just started with low levels of fish and they had to replenish?

A weird update about Fisheries. I started another game and had a similar problem (but was no longer relying on fisheries). For year after you, even in very efficient situations, I was producing basically just enough to feed the workers themselves. Maybe 500 for 4 workers a season, or a little less. It is a place you can easily throw extra workers in to basically earn their keep but nothing else. But suddenly last year Production doubled. Everything was the exact same as all previous years, just production went up in both.

I am sort of confused about farming. What determines what you are allowed to designate to plant? I built an orchard, and only cherry was available, also the choices for the farm were similarly random seeming. As far as I know I do not have any seeds of any kind, does the ability to select it mean that I have sherries hidden away somewhere?

Sounds good. I just restarted, and the statistics, and lack of starving does not lie, I have tones of food, and a gatherer even in a forest filled with rocks produces like twice as much as a fishery. I wonder if they allow the gatherers to carry more. Two semi related questions: 1) Does the 4th worker added add less production than the first, is there diminishing returns? 2) The hunter only cares about buildings, ?mountains?, and ?water? in his productivity zone? What about rocks?

I only have like 6 citizens, they are all like 5 tile walk from the storage barn. but I have heard it implied that markets somehow make food sharing between households better as well? You get less of one house hoarding an entire years worth of food, and others starving.

It is possible my main problem is lack of tools, but still the Fishermen appear to be making loads of food, it is just always constantly eaten.

comment How to manage resource locality?
OK, but for firewood and food and stuff, you are saying Markets are very very efficient at transferring resources? I could have one super farm at one tiny corner of the map, with a few dozen barns, and a single market, and then a bunch of spread out markets feeding thousands (say 1 for every 20-30 homes), and this would work? It is only wood/stone/iron that you are stuck with the full cost of transport?

It seems that we have two completely contradictory answers.

comment What's a quick way to level conjuration?
Thanks for the first straight forward answer to when you actually get the experience. But do you just get it at creation, or latter when you encounter enemies? But both times just the one set amount? Or do you get experience relative to the length of time in combat with a summon?

So casting summon spells without enemies being near does not level your Conjuration? Because I always cast these spells before I get into combat, as that is the only logical way to play.

comment Is there any explanation for the Island of Myst or how the player arrives there?
"In the Myst hint guide there is a small paragraph about the game's backstory, with highly dubious and contradictory details about the Myst book's discovery. This description is considered non-canonical. The game Uru: Ages Beyond Myst revealed that the Star Fissure's destination -- and thus the location where the Myst Linking Book fell -- is in Eddy County, New Mexico." "However, the Myst Book might well have changed hands after its original discovery before its first use."
