comment Is the Burst Laser I superior to the Dual Lasers?
The only difference between the two weapons is that the bursts take more energy, longer to charge, and are worth more.

comment Do AI-controlled ships automatically man systems?
They seem to repair much more slowly. I wonder if interrupting actions (e.g. having an invader, fire, etc) cancel the manning. Not sure how I'd find out :D

revised How can I make a reliable and compact random timer?
Disambiguate between Minecraft and Minecraft XBox, as discussed http://meta.gaming.stackexchange.com/questions/4916/questions-tagged-minecraft-and-minecraft-xbox

comment What's the effect of having more than one scrap recovery arm?
I don't know if it's 120% or 121%, but they do stack, so it won't be 110%.

comment Does it make a difference which sector you visit?
Different kinds of regions generate with different possible numbers of shops, floating items, empty spaces, distress beacons, quests, neutral encounters, hostile encounters, and nebula spaces. In addition to this, some quests will have access to unique quests, events, and encounters. See: ftl.wikia.com/wiki/Sectors

comment How do you collect all the crew types?
One distress beacon in slug space can net you a slug. The introduction tells you how many moons there are. On the next page, the slug crew member asks how many moons there are. Get it right, get the slug. Get it wrong, he steals stuff from you and calls you an idiot. Pay attention!

comment What happens if I jump with crew members away on another ship?
It took me several boardings onto AI ships before I knew why damage was being done. My rockman could survive the time it took to teleport him back, so it wasn't until I sent in a mantis too that I realised it was oxygen damage and not some auto-damage by AI, similar to their auto-repair.

comment How much do various delay options actually delay the fleet?
From my experience, all selected options to slow the fleet (excluding the effect of nebula beacons) result in the fleet not advancing at all for your next jump only. Whether it's worthwhile or not depends on what you're planning with that extra jump.

comment What factors influence the speed of the rebel fleet?
@Chuim All it does is let your FTL drive charge faster than your piloted engines would normally allow it, meaning you can jump out of combat or a dangerous beacon that much sooner.

comment What triggers crew experience increases?
Through the careful use of deoxygenated rooms to contain and starve fires, you can keep a fire alive in an empty room or one where the system is already fully damaged (surrounded by oxygenless rooms. You can allow the fire to spread to a room with an undamaged system (preferably one with a lot of power capacity to prevent hull damage), then put out the fire (rockmen or oxygen) before the system goes into the red. Repair the system to full and repeat as necessary. The success of this technique depends on the ship and how you manage it.

comment What happens if I kill the crew of the first form of the end boss?
Keep in mind that the flagship won't flee just from losing its crew. It can only be defeated by hull damage. This means your boarders can be safely beamed back before you finish the job.

AI auto-repairs systems, but at a much slower rate. If you can keep up the damage, it can be easier to deal with (but one or two enemy crew will be easier still).

comment Does air pressure equalize more quickly if the doors are open?
It's useful to note a couple of things. Air flows out of rooms open to space faster than it flows between rooms - this is most obvious when using suffocation as a defense against invaders. If they are in edge-rooms, you can start them "drowning" quickly, but deeper in the ship you may find yourself disabling oxygen systems to help the flow of air. You can also use air flow to help fix breaches. Keep the breached room sealed until you're ready to repair it, and then open it to oxygenated rooms as you send in your crew to prevent them from suffocating.

Dwarves will happily use a single tile garbage zone without needing a pit. It's filling ponds that they're not interested in doing at foot level.
