@Arda: I'm not saying you should violate copyright law, I'm just saying you should consider the interests of the person whose advice you ask. Nintendo's lawyers are going to suggest there is stricter control than what actually exists, just like the warez sites are going to tell you a bogus story about an XY-hour grace period. As for the DMCA, I'm not sure storing data on a ROM chip constitutes a copy protection measure. Even if it does, format-shifting (if you make your own copy from a copy that you legally obtained) might be legal under fair use. An interesting example: www.retrode.org

+1 for solid advice, but that FAQ is misleading if not downright dishonest. For example, I find the claim that game copying devices are illegal to be suspect. I wouldn't take Nintendo's word on this topic, since they definitely have a conflict of interest.
