Does the zombie preview screen give any clues as to which lanes the zombies will appear on? @JSBangs I can say for certain that even though you see 1 Jack-in-the-Box that more than one can and usually does appear over the course of the level. At best, I suppose the one you see could correspond to the FIRST appearance, but even if that is true, it doesn't really change how you have to build, because you still have to defend against them everywhere, and more-so against whatever zombies happen to be appearing right now. |

How many workers do I need for my cities? @DJClayworth You may simply play differently than I do, and so need less. I like my cities to expand as quickly as possible so I 1) build cities where they have lots of food resources, 2) focus on improving food resources first almost exclusively, 3) commonly build granaries, 4) Keep my cities happy an healthy. Still, some cities finish growing or only grow slowly. Just count them as needing half a worker each, and send him off to build roads. In short, if you're building unnecessary improvements, that's how you know you've built too many workers. Build less next time. |

Anyone else experience jerkiness in games when holding shift key down? Maybe your keyboard has hardware limitations? Does it happen to be wireless? Is it USB or older connector? |

How can I level water? +1 for OCD. I can very much appreciate. I used to move my whole city one square to the left in Sim City. |

Does a developer's job affect their performance on certain tasks? This totally sounds off topic, at first glance. |

How much trade-route bonus does Arabia get in Civ5? This has been observed true through gameplay. Also note that Arabia gains extra oil in the game, which the manual does not mention. |

What's up with generic disapproving diplomatic statements from other civs in Civilization 5? In previous games, what other nations complained to you about depended on the other nation. IE Egypt saying you're 'uncivilized' might not mean you're low on culture in general, but they you're low on culture compared to Egypt. (And in Civ 4, who wasn't?) Sadly, I have no idea how to figure out which way the Civ 5 actually works, since these messages are so random. |

How does road maintenance work? @Oak. Thanks. This time I actually looked in the fabled XML files, but couldn't find the right one. |

Why has my neighbor city stopped taking garbage? @Nakilon Yeah, I remember the message now. There's just so much noise in the ticker/full news screen that I just trained myself watch all the graphs closely and find all the problems for myself, to the point I even forget I could do it the other way. :( Sorry for the error. |

What parts can safely be automated and where should I micromanage? I realized I didn't do a very good job of suggesting how to make this less subjective. Worse, I didn't work very hard on heading the question toward less subjective parts, and so I think I've prevented others from answering that way. I'm sorry. I propose you re-ask your question like "which of the automation options are nearly optimal?" or "what mistakes have we seen the automation options make?" Then you can decide for yourself which are "safe". The new question might have to be split up for each automation option: city citizens, exploration, etc... |

How does road maintenance work? @DMA57361 What a can of worms you opened. Thanks for asking good questions. I don't have that exact game available to me... its multiplayer. But I did another test that proves neutral costs maintenance, and proves we have no idea how much roads cost to maintain between either difficulties or in borders/out of borders. See my edits for details. |

How does road maintenance work? @Akusete So far as I can tell, yes. I have not seen this for certain, but it is a reasonable conclusion from the road I built in Rome's land not costing me anything. Definitely something I need to try at scale some day. |

How can I stop Civilization 5 from asking me twice which DirectX mode to play in? Best answer I think I can expect until we get a patch addressing this issue, getting rid of the second prompt. |
