• TBS (Civilization series)
• RTS to some extent (Age of Empires, Command & Conquer, not a big StarCraft player)
• Simulation/God games (Anno series, SimCity, Tropico, Dungeon Keeper, Evil Genius)
• Action/Adventure (Zelda series, ICO/SotC, God of War series)
• Arcade racers (Burnout series)
• 3rd person open world sandbox games with exaggerated physics/reality (seriously, this practically a genre unto itself now... Prototype, Infamous, Crackdown, Saints Row series, Just Cause 1/2, Arkham Asylum/City)
• weird, quirky indie games whose qualities I have trouble quantifying (Recettear, The Void, The Path)
• Basically nearly anything except for sports games like FIFA/Madden/UFC/etc.
