comment Can you play Half-Life 2 without steam?
Half-Life 2's release was sort of Valve's flagship title for helping to promote Steam in the first place. There was never a non-Steam version for PC.

comment Is there a quick way to delete saves off of the steam cloud?
@Lukman Furthermore, make sure that the file isn't currently in use. The game which uses it should not be running, or perhaps Steam shouldn't be running either. If the file is in use, that will typically lock it from external deletion/modification.

@Lukman Perhaps verify that your account/the administrator has ownership of the file along with read/write/delete access. technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc753659.aspx

comment When is it safe to use the Anvil of Krong?
Nevermind, I just got a curse on a normal quality item on the first go. I'm not really sure if the section I quoted above really holds any merit.

The wiki states: "This does not apply to the character's first use of an Anvil of Krong, which will never result in a curse." and so far my interpretation is that normal quality items cannot be cursed. ie. you cannot curse a normal item, but you can curse an item which is not normal. dredmorwiki.com/wiki/Anvil_of_Krong

If you're going to copy+paste, it would be nice if you cited a source.

comment Mount & Blade: Will the AI capture their last city? Or must I capture it myself?
I have had the AI of my own faction finish off the last remaining King in the game for me, but never tested to see if they would take out a single remaining stronghold. (The king was roaming as I had taken all of his towns/castles.)

@Lyrion Typically, the longer a city, castle, or lord stands without being defeated, the more advanced and numerous their troops become. Say you wipe out all but one faction during the game, and never attacked that one faction. When you go to conquer that final faction, their castles, towns (and Lords if you hadn't been defeating them on the field) will all be garrisoned high tier troops. This can make finishing them off difficult. If, on the contrary, you keep pressure on them and keep killing their units, they will only ever have low tier units/recruits.

comment Is there a way to release (free) captured prisoners?
@spartacus I made it to my marshal (I am the King) but saw no option to get rid of any prisoners (of a faction that is still in tact). Available options: i.imgur.com/sBPXtQb.jpg

Step 1: Ask your question again without providing the answer in the 'Question' section. Step 2: Answer your own question using the 'Your Answer' section at the bottom. Step 3: Profit.

comment Driving a boat: Pull back or forward to go faster?
I never had an issue keeping up to the objectives in a boat on the PC version. During the entire time, I wasn't giving any input for a 'forward' or 'backward' lean. I'm surprised that there even is even input to 'lean' a boat, seeing as the throttle is the only real input you'd have to affect that in real life. (leaning yourself in a boat would have little to no impact in all but the smallest of boats) It's like being able to lean forward or backwards in a car.

comment Is there a way to gift Battlefield 3?
@Ampersand The other sites appeared to be readily available for use in Canada without any messing around. I purchased from GamersGate without a hitch.

comment Is there a way to gift Battlefield 3?
- Greenmangaming.com was buggy and clicking the "Buy" button associated with Battlefield 3 Premium Edition did nothing but reload the page. - Amazon.com doesn't allow Canadians to purchase digital downloads (even though it gets downloaded via Origin). I'll add some more alternatives to your list. Thanks for the suggestions, though!

comment Is there any way to play a custom map in multiplayer?
For a little back story: I used to play WoW back before any of the expansions. I recently reconnected with and started playing other games with an old friend who I met playing WoW years and years ago. There is an Azeroth map that I'd love to play with them, if only it is possible: forums.civfanatics.com/showpost.php?p=9751466&postcount=5 It may have just been a game, but I have some good memories playing it with friends nearly a decade ago!

comment How do I prevent my imbecile son from being an heir?
As someone who has no idea what this game is, I like this question/answer. It's all about how to murder an imbecile without getting hated for it. It's great. :) lol

comment Does World of Tanks really have a 'Russian Bias'?
@Xenox The game did have a major problem with overpowered Russian tanks in beta (likely why people started talking about it in the first place). It was a legitimate problem with the game early on and not based solely on claims. I haven't played since beta (the game balance was broken then), so I can't say how it is now from any personal experience.

@FEichinger is correct. This doesn't work for prisoners.

comment What happens when you get backstabbed while being buffed by the Battalion's Backup?
@badp In all seriousness, if you can cite a valid source proving otherwise, or provide some tests of your own, I would be glad to redact my answer. I've read nothing to suggest max hp instead of current hp, but it could very well be the case. There is a chance that these wiki articles are incorrect, however (as my previous comment noted), these articles should be fairly well maintained and reliable. If you need to go as far as obtaining source code or observing detailed tests in order to feel confident in an answer, best of luck.
