comment How do I use my Xbox 360 control pad in Mass Effect 3?
Drives me nuts. Mouse gives me RSI, I have to use control pad (the controller they designed they game for). Smug "mouse and keyboard is superior" idiots. Thank goodness there are easy fixes out there to counteract the damage done by these PC-master-race morons.

comment Should I buy a gamepad or joystick for PC gaming on my Media Center?
For reasons to get the 360 controller (not just any controller) see this question.

comment Does anyone have experience using a controller to play Skyrim on the PC?
I have RSI with mouse, so I use the controller for everything, then quickly swap my right hand to mouse (actually trackball) to aim sniper-style.

comment I have a mediocre GPU but loads of RAM, is there any way to gain more performance?
You could do what I do - plug in an old top-of-the-line 21" CRT (that cost $2000 new and about $50 now) and play at 1024x768, or even 800x600. Much better colour reproduction and contrast make up somewhat for the slightly lower resolution.

Not a real answer, but there might be a slight possibility the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470 can borrow some system RAM somehow - a lot of integrated graphics solutions do it. Not sure it would even help, though (and you'd have to google it yourself, I don't know).

comment (How) Is it possible to get the full version of a game if I can only buy its low violence version?
Maybe this doesn't help but: personally, if any game that I'd legitimately bought had some annoying problem with it, I think I'd simply pirate a working version of it without any concern for whether that was technically legal or not. Can't see how you can get a ban doing that (though multiplayer games are different, I guess).

comment What important differences are there between the various online game distributors?
@Aarobot No probs. I'm curious about the other details too, but since no-one else has answered yet (and I don't know any more than I've said) I thought I'd bump the question by saying what I do know (activity on the question can increase exposure and so attract more answers).

comment What are the easiest PC keyboard controls for the Assassin's Creed series?
Come on, people! Just buy a decent gamepad. A good PS2 dualshock style controller costs about $5 on ebay. USB adapters for top quality console controllers you probably already own start from about $3. If your gaming rig cost you $1000, that's about 0.5% of your investment. Would you use an old yellow composite AV cable with your $2000 HDTV? (This is off-topic, but I see this all the time and had to vent. Sorry).

comment Why is my PS3's internet so slow compared to my computer?
It's really easy to run an ethernet cable through the roof and down the inside of the wall. Definitely no special skills or handyman experience required. Did it when I was a kid (prior to wireless).

comment Are there better laptop screen resolutions for gaming on a PC?
If you mostly use it for work/browsing and only occasionally game (and don't have an external high-end CRT to hook it up to) get a high res. If it's mainly for gaming, no point going for highest res only to have to go fuzzy for every game.

+1 do consider this. A newer game at only 1024x768 but with all the AF and effects turned on looks much better than at 1920x1080 with the effects switched off. There will always be new games coming out that tax your hardware, where you'll have to choose one or the other. Running a game on an LCD at anything lower than it's native resolution is going to look fuzzy. Try it out and decide what's important to you.

comment How can I emulate keyboard and mouse commands with a game controller?
Thanks. I've now bought xPadder, very happy. For people finding this later: xPadder is much easier to use (thanks to the controller images allowing you to see which button is where) and for some reason works on games where controlMK fails or only partially works. Most people can probably make do with the free version above.

comment How do I perform directional inputs for Street Fighter 4 on a PC Keyboard?
Off-topic, but please buy a controller. You can get a decent one for as little as $5, and a good usb adapter for a snes controller for under $25. That's probably about 1-2% of what your PC cost you.

That's true Grace Note, but official support saves a lot of button mapping (more time than you'd think).

comment Compatibility of controllers for PC games
Not every GFW game supports X360 pads (shakes fist at developers of Bioshock 2) but almost all do. The convenience of this is pretty important for me, without it I end up spending an hour per game fiddling with button mappings before I can play properly. It's more work than you might think.

I added controller support for a cheapo controller of mine to bioshock 1 - do they use the same config files? If anyone's interested maybe I can find it...

Didn't know that. Important point.
