Developer, Systems Admin, Geek, Gadget lover, etc. etc.

I started programming in BASIC at the age of 11 on a Sinclair ZX81, advanced to a BBC Model B, where I learned 6502 assembly language programming. I never really worked with PCs until the early 90s.

In the late 90s, I joined a higher educational institution as a desktop technician, a quickly got promoted to be a systems admin, working predominantly on Windows systems, but also had a keen interest in Linux systems. I later got involved in software development, working in C#, PHP, C.

In my current employment, I'm the manager of the company's Information Systems department. The primary focus of our business is industrial control systems (mostly legacy systems). The work isn't exclusively legacy/control systems though, as we also support modern systems for a number of business customers.

comment How do I get rid of these bats on minecraft
They also despawn if far enough away from the player, so if the area has been lit up, move far enough away for the chunk to unload (100 to 200 blocks should do it), then head back and the bats will be gone, but as will other mobs that haven't been named using a name tag & anvil.

@craftern3rdgurl They always seem to fly towards me, as they're always getting in the way when I'm battling a aggressive mob. I find just standing still aiming in the right general direction whilst swiping my sword around, and I find they're fairly easy to take down.

Serial downvoting. Don't take it personally, I got a down voted on my answer at exactly the same. I thought your answer was perfectly valid, so I'll counter their downvote with an upvote. Now the only rep loser is the person that downvoted you. :)

comment “username already registered” in minecraft multiplayer?
Have you tried from a different computer? If that works, then the problem is likely something wrong on your computer. BTW what exactly do you mean by 'When I try to register to server'?

comment Do spawners work in the Nether?
There any many more mobs that can exist in the nether than what you've listed, however if you mean, 'spawn' rather than 'exist', then you aren't too far off. Magma Cubes being the omission that springs to mind.

comment High ping on games while streaming
You're always going to get increased ping latency when other traffic is using your connection, unless you use QoS on your router. Reducing the stream bandwidth will help, but QoS is better (and both is better still).

@MBraedley Actual ping speeds whilst the game and stream are running are pretty much irrelevant, all we need to know is that they're high (which he says they are). Clearly when this occurs, quality of stream and game will suffer. The OP does specify that the speedtest is to show available bandwidth. I can see why you might think his terminology was wrong, but I didn't read as you did, as I read (1700kbps) as being in context of the stream, not the ping.

@MBraedley I'm sure the speedtest will have been taken without the stream or game running, so I'd guess the ping latency in the image is not relevant in that context. I think that's provided just to show the available bandwidth.
