comment Can I recover a Skyrim saved game from a condemned computer?
@LéonPelletier Not so good. One of the last things you want to do on an infected machine is enter credentials to your email...

Noting that antiviruses (antivirii?) are typically imperfect, you should instead use a live environment to copy the save files off in the first place. It's better not to trust that an antivirus scan will actually detect anything.

Depends what virus. Some of them will encrypt all your data (e.g. cryptolocker and variants), making recovery impossible. The ones that don't, probably won't touch your game saves.

comment Is it possible to take screenshots in-game?
If you have Windows 8+, does Win+PrintScr work? (don't have Witcher here to test with) It should save a screenshot in your Pictures library.

comment What is the optimal strategy for the launched site in Stack Egg?
@Keen Since one of the bigger goals is keeping question score up, downvoting is normally better. Sacrificing users does less harm than sacrificing questions (...there's probably some cynical view of SE in there).

comment Will I definitely lose my save state while replacing the battery?
> too much voltage in the two simultaneously connected batteries (B + C, because B is at full charge, and C… enough to keep the save alive) No. You're connecting in parallel, so you'd end up with the average voltage and a larger current capacity. It won't directly harm the device, but it can harm the batteries involved (since you're effectively going to partially charge the old battery with the spare one, which will also discharge the spare one faster than it's rated for). Probably not an issue if done quickly, but both batteries involved should be binned afterwards.

comment Do plants grow while I'm in another world?
@Joe It should, yes. (Note: I haven't actually confirmed this, and it's been a while since I last played Terraria. It's possible that the dedicated server pauses processing when there's no players connected. I do not believe this to be the case, and it's simple enough to test. I do remember a whole lot of crimson after leaving the server running overnight...)

There is an exception: AFAIK the player doesn't have to be physically in the world; the world just has to be running. You can leave the world running using the dedicated server launcher.

comment How to play Age of Mythology on a VM
@tombull89 Or the recent Age of Mythology Extended Edition, which should work fine on modern OSes. Bit pricey, though.

Seems the multiple logins came with the Steam Streaming update. This answer is now incorrect.

I... this is really weird but I just logged into Steam on two computers today. Both are online, logged in, and can use chat. Don't have time to try any games right now.

@Chris That explains it. So, don't rush too much but you can't really take your time either :(

While it is possible to trigger an early loss with a game over, there is some other win condition. See this game, for example.

comment What happens if I decline a Steam gift?
@WernerCD I believe you can choose to add the gift to your own inventory (rather than redeeming it) after you accept the gift. At least that's what I remember from two days ago, but I wasn't really paying attention.
