How do I play Age of Empires multiplayer on Windows 7? I think "Unable to join" with vista/7 has sg to do with directplay 6-8 incompatibility with vista+'s new tcp handling. We never solved this, playing on Gameranger instead. But I'm still definietly interested in the real solution of this problem. |

Timeout issue on LAN Multiplayer with Age of Empires II: The Conquerors on Windows 7 @B-Ballerl I don't think reinstall would help. I think this has something to do with directplay 6-8 + vista's new TCP handling. Maybe not, but it still should be a "vista+ vs old directplay" incompatibility in my experience. I've never seen it fixed (didn't try the userpatch in LAN) but we were/are able to play with friends through GameRanger as a workaround. |

The Age of Empires II Scrolling Bug "to simply enhance v1.0c, without upgrading to v1.1, you can hold the Ctrl key while clicking the Install button. This will block all v1.1 gameplay fixes, allowing for the use of v1.0c saved and recorded files." To do this via command line: SetupAoC.exe -c. |
