comment Is there a term for games with overly precise controls?
@TankorSmash There's also the rhyme with Mumblecore, a term that has caught on to describe a certain, somewhat twee, cinematic aesthetic that's been in vogue for a few years now. (See: Duplass Brothers, Lena Dunham, etc.)

comment Understanding weapon system in Neverwinter Nights
@Namfuak Indeed it does, and as Frank notes, there are a variety of other ways to add extra attacks beyond what BAB grants you. That's one of them.

One minor clarifying note: If you manage a critical threat (i.e. rolling that 19 or 20 with a sword), but don't confirm it (i.e. hit when you roll the second time), your attack still hits for normal damage. Increasing critical threat range (i.e. going from 20 to 19-20 to 18-20 and so on) is one of the best ways to increase damage for melee characters in NWN's particular implementation of D&D rules.

comment From which game is this image of picking a lock on a broken door?
The HUD color is configurable without any mods. As I noted in my answer, these are the default colors, but that's not a guarantee of anything.

Good catch! I had forgotten about that subtle UI cue.

comment Is it possible to easily collate recommended system requirements for all owned Steam games?
I don't believe it's half as clear cut as you seem to, and the distinction between your original comment and my correction is the crux of why.

comment Is it possible to easily collate recommended system requirements for all owned Steam games?
@aytimothy Except that he isn't asking for that at all. He's asking for a tool that compiles that information from across his library of games and spits out some sort of meta-requirement. Which is a very different sort of question.

comment Is there a reason for the specific symbols and letters on the controllers?
@rapitor answerability is not the metric by which we evaluate questions.

comment Why didn't Siris/Ausar die in the first Infinity Blade itself?
@Arperum being a lore question isn't a free pass against our other standards. Lore questions that are fundamentally speculative/Dev intent based are just as off topic as "why did my favorite item get nerfed."

comment How can I legally purchase games for an arcade cabinet I'm making?
You state it yourself with your first caveat. The law explicitly refers to "noncommercial use". It's not my problem if you don't understand that the generally accepted definition of that term does not simply mean "not charging to play the game."

there is a difference between putting out a board game (or, for example, hooking up a Playstation with a legit game in it), and making use of a specific fair use provision to make a copy for explicitly and specifically non-commercial use.

I'm super busy at the moment, but in short, placing a game cabinet in a place of business, even under free-play, as an inducement for customers to come in or stay (i.e. In a bar), is inherently 'commercial use', regardless of whether the cabinet itself is actually directly generating revenue.

This is not strictly accurate legal advice.

I'm certain. The point is atmosphere. And also to taunt you. And maybe an accident? Who knows.

Are you specifically interested in whether a high score in Charisma is worthwhile? Or are you more generally interested in the value if social skills like speech and barter?

comment Putting a password on a Xbox 360 game
@NoneOfYourBusiness I'm not sure that's a better method at all; the parental controls provided by the Xbox are quite robust, and certainly much easier to turn on and off on demand than a scheduled IP block set up from a router.

comment Will 3rd party USB-Ethernet adapters work with my Wii?
@Frank that was clearly something of a special case... Regardless, a more narrow question like "Do I need to use a Nintendo specific USB to Ethernet adapter, or will a generic one work?" (And if so, do I need to jump through any hoops and what are they) would be fine. The issue here is that the question is so broad as to be meaningless, not that it is fundamentally off topic.
