I can't find (quickly) a mod list for FTB-Unhinged, so: do you have Forestry? Multi-farms can be configured to extract stick resin from IC2 rubber trees.

comment Installing Industrial Craft for Minecraft 1.7.2
The IC2 wiki is essentially useless. There hasn't been a formal release of IC2 for ages. However builds for later MC are available. Eg. the IC2 "Experimental" branch (with lots of changes) seems quite stable: builds are available online. I'm running MC 1.6.4 with FML 9.11.1.916 and IC2-Exp 2.0.272.

@ratchetfreak Correct. Following various of those involved in the port of FML indicates it will be several weeks at least. And on prior expeience several weeks after that for FML to stabilise. And then the mods need to be ported; this will be significant effort. Have you considered sticking to V1.6.4?

comment What can give me near-infinite storage?
@Coronus: Certainly barrels (Factorization) and chests (Vanilla, Iron Chests, …). Never used MineFactory Reloaded so cannot confirm DSU (but AE supports multiple mod's storage approaches).

In Applied Energistics you can use a Storage Bus to add external storage (eg. barrels with an extra-dimensional upgrade) to offload bulk items. Setting the storage bus to have a higher priority and new instances of the item will be placed in the barrel before the AE drives.

comment How do I connect multiple machines to an energy bridge?
@ratchetfreak Redstone Energy Conduits are from Thermal Expansion. And, once you are able to make them (rather later game than BuildCraft conductive pipes) are much more effective. Just don't forget to change the input to orange (blue is output) with an appropriate wrench.

comment How does one pump huge lakes of lava fast?
I'm running 8 IC2 Geithermal Generators and 6 TE Magmatic engines with two BC pumps barely stressed (eg. filling 6 buckets from one of the two buffer tanks and it immediately refills): are you sure you have a problem? PS. It would be helpful to be specific about which mod your generators come from: across all the mods across all the FtB mod packs there are a lot of generators.

comment Minecraft Gold Trouble
The one advantage of gold is it is more easily enchanted (ie. greater enchantment for the same number of experience levels). However overall it is minimum practicality maximum bling.

comment BuildCraft Filler with Saplings
I don't think a Steve's Cart will handle the 2x2 requirement for redwood planting, but as you note oak trees will work fine to keep a solid fuel boiler running (particularly if run through a powered furnace for charcoal). Additionally you can use the excess of saplings you have with a fermenter and still to generate biofuel for a second, liquid fuelled boiler (the apples from oaks can also be squeezed for mulch which saves using fertiliser in the fermented; but I've found there is not enough apple juice to use that consistently in the fermenter).

Note: Use the first charcoal you make to fuel the furnace to make more charcoal. (Charcoal burns as long as coal, eight times longer than the planks.)
