comment What's the easiest way to kill Fawkes?
@beska: For the record, according to the Wiki, "Contrary to a comment about Fawkes' gender made by his voice actor, lead designer Emil Pagliarulo has confirmed 'No, Fawkes was absolutely a male. This was a mistake. Wes gave an interview and he was mistaken. Trust me, Fawkes is and was male.'" And yes, Fawkes was ludicrously hard to kill. :) I don't even know how many stimpacks I went through, but my hunch is probably 40 or 50. (And I didn't save after doing it; it was just for giggles.)

@Raven: Not that I'm aware of, though I could be wrong. I just double-checked the Wiki -- Fawkes, East Coast Super Mutants and the generic Super Mutants articles -- and didn't see anything that indicated that Fawkes (nor any super mutant) would heal from radiation. I was just launching mini-nukes because of their 4-figure damage count. :)

I should note, I did manage to kill him, but it seemed really odd that he was harder to kill than an army of behemoths. :)

@Raven: Normal. Although now that I'm at level 30, and XP don't matter anymore, I suppose I could turn it down to Very Easy. :)

comment Is there any way to get the original Fallout and Fallout 2 working on a Mac?
Very nice! I fought through WINE using MacPorts, which worked out OK, and then wound up writing a shell script to launch from Finder.

Wound up clearing Fort Independence. Didn't really want to, but Protector Casdin took my Outcast Power Armor right off my body! (Got a tiny bit of negative karma, but stayed neutral and got the achievement. Now back to the quests!)

And I was wrong. Now that I'm back in my game, I see that I'm < 500 away ... :)

I didn't consider revisiting that ... Good call. Also thinking of trying to find (again) Dunwich ... Ghouls are a good slaughter for non-karmic XP. Too bad I'm so high up I'll start getting those darned Reavers ...

@Beska: Because I am, essentially, right about to level ... Yes, I'm a "couple thousand" away, but I'm close enough that I feel uncomfortable karmic questing ...

Way ahead of you there. Been using that tactic all along. It's just at the achievement points that I want to avoid questing (or at least karma questing) altogether. The currently-assigned quest I know will result in some karmic change (the simulation in Vault 112, I believe?), so I want to be level 20 before that even begins. :)
