Do you always spawn on sand? I suspect that you don't spawn on sand, but rather at a certain surface height (as Nick T and Ronan Forman point out, so that you are close to land and water), and that height is usually sand. |

Artificial Lake Minecraft Actually, you will be able to swim in the lower layers. The condition for a downward current is NOT that the block is not a source block, but that the block has open space beside it. (Yes, I tested this.) |

What's the maximum number of bones needed to tame a wolf? If you're interested in the mathematics of it, the number of bones needed (assuming it works as badp says) follows a geometric distribution. |

Minecraft mechanism to separate merged carts? Polt: Your designs were helpful beyond just knowing that water could split carts, though, as I spent a while playing with them and considering how to speed them up; and the 2-deep-starting track beyond the water was a definite inspiration too. |

Minecraft mechanism to separate merged carts? Success! I got yours working, but it was too slow to feed my cart stack into it, and my idea about detecting merged carts didn't work very well, so I invented a different solution — but your water splitting idea is the core of it. See my answer. |

Minecraft mechanism to separate merged carts? OK, I've played with this a bit, but haven't quite gotten it to work reliably. Do I correctly understand that the water-and-one-double-booster component should suffice to split the carts into two carts on one track, and the later jammed-carts-and-door is just to send back the unwanted cart? (I will be busy today, but I'll get back to this within the bounty period.) |

Is it possible to power all the blocks in a wall? Kevin Y's got one idea, and there are probably others. |

Is it possible to power all the blocks in a wall? Repeaters have a specific direction, so you can make a row of them 'towards' the blocks, but they can't be stacked vertically. |
