I graduated from Computer Systems Technology at SIAST Kelsey Campus in 2008. This 2-year course concentrates on hands-on, collaborative projects as opposed to being heavily theory based like many university computer science programs. I gained experience with many different programming languages such as Java, C#, and C++. CST also included classes which exposed me to various DB engines such as Oracle, MS SqlServer, and mySQL. It was also the first place I learned about eXtreme Programming (XP) practices. My favorite part was getting to work through full projects as part of a team who was responsible for the entire life-cycle including development, acceptance testing, delivery, deployment, and maintenance.
I am now a Software Developer on an Agile Scrum team at Point2 Technologies. We practice XP techniques such as pair-programming, TDD, continuous integration, and clean code. My experience here so far has made me into a very effective Java (JVM) developer and I like utilizing tools and frameworks such as Maven-2, Hibernate, Spring, JUnit, Mockito, and pretty much anythign from Apache. The project my previous team and I just finished let us play with some new, *shiny* things such as OSGi, Camel, Jython, and MongoDB. I am currently on a new team which is very heavy on the DOT.NET stack but we also get oppurtunities to use Python and Django. We are currently developing a service-oriented, domain-driven, MVC 3 web application and I am loving the new challenges!

Can one-player games be played when only the second controller port works? @BenBrocka I've played SP XBOX360 games with the second controller. In order to do this though, you first have to connect a controller as #1, then a second, then you can disconnect the first. I also remember doign this on my N64. Either way, PS3 certainly isn't the first system to support this. |

How do I kill the high dragon in Dragon Age: Origins? I wasn't able to beat this dragon or Flemeth until 18+ but I play on Hard so it may vary. Either way, 11 seems too low. These is no shame in admitting defeat, you can always come back later to try again. I fought Flemeth like 5 times through my game progress before I was even close to finishing her. |

How do I run StarCraft: Brood War on Windows 7 without problems? +1 for ChaosLauncher. I had all kinds of weird problems and nothing seemed to help. I installed ChaosLauncher and everything has worked flawlessly since. It even lets you run SC in windowed mode and handles automatic updates of the game files. |

How do I determine if someone is cheating in Call of Duty: Black Ops? @vartec - everyone always says that most of the weapons didn't exist in that time period BUT don't forget that the game is called Black Ops and is supposed to be about all the super-secret stuff. Just because the AUG wasn't officially around in the 60's doesn't mean the guys in the Black Ops squads weren't using em. ;) |

What causes an item to disappear in Minecraft? No, I believe you have to burn the sand in a furnace for it to turn to glass, throwing sand in lava simply burns up and destroys the sand. |

Xbox Redeem Codes Recycled? Reuse does not mean fraud. I can track used keys just as easily as I can attempt generating my own. I am willing to bet they have better security measures against fraud then simply not re-suing keys. |

How to deny Protoss observers effectively Mobile defense is defnitely the best option, even if at a slightly higher initial cost. +1 |

Why doesn't spotting enemies always work? I am not certain of this but I think the distance limit is variable based on your own view distance. For instance, I can spot people effectively much further away with a 12x sniper rifle than I can using the sights of my handgun. Under this assumptions, I would guess the UAV has a "short" view distance and therefor a short spot range because I can never spot anybody with a UAV unless I am hovering quite low. |

How do I make an effective Minecraft SMP trap? Hiding your base and loot is definitely the best option. The only other option to effectively prevent thieves and griefers is to play on a server which doesn't allow it. Traps just won't cut it for you, sorry. |

XBox 360 randomly not signing in to Xbox LIVE When I experience this problem, my XBOX's Network Test discovers nothing. I find it pretty much useless when this problem occurs. Maybe you will have better results... |
