I just love code.

I will keep loving code until the day I build an AI and it kills us all.

Then I'll probably rethink this whole code thing.

comment Is it possible to install Steam games to two different locations?
So with this technique, do you install the game to the SSD first, and then move it and use mklink? Or can you create the link first in case you don't have enough space for the SSD install?

@Stuart Pegg so the achievements you get via steam in fallout 3 are the same as the ones you get on the xbox? or different?

comment Does having more than 4 gigs of RAM increase gaming performance?
Although, I removed my pagefile in windows 7 at home, where I have 8GB of DDR3, and I have to say I didn't see much improvement. I didn't see any LESS performance, but I have a regular SATA drive and not SSD, so that's probably my biggest bottleneck.

Actually, it won't crash. I recently turned off paging at work, and when I ran out of ram(3GB), visual studio started acting funny - not allowing me to debug, or even copy/paste. But it didn't even drop the process, it just told me about it. I personally don't see why we need to enable paging if we have lots of ram or if we know we won't exceed that amount. Most arguments to the contrary are something like 'You just dont do it, windows knows best' which I don't buy.

so, with 2 wands, same speed, 100 DPS and 50 DPS, all magic effects aside, am i at 150, or 75? I would hope 150.

Nice answer. I love seeing people reverse engineering this stuff. It does point out that the company should have published these formulas in the first place, but, still, kudos.

@thethinman so what you're saying is that the DPS will go DOWN if i equip another less wand? that doesn't seem right

fire rate is a good point. I've actually been ignoring fire rate entirely since i figured DPS would include that, but in this case it might be relevant.

Yeah, im an Alchemist. Basically I'm just wondering if say I have a wand that's 100 DPS, and another that's 50 DPS. If I use just the 100, i'd expect 100 DPS, but if I use both, is it 150, or 75? In other words, does wand A fire more often if I have a free hand?

comment When I buy a game, what do I actually pay for?
If you think about game reviews, they include lots of actual gameplay video, but they have commentary. I'm sure a game company would like the ability to order people to take down negative reviews of their games on a copyright basis, but they can't. Well, maybe they could get away with it they tried, but then no one will review their games, and no press is bad press.

Did you play game fully patched? I know there were some bugs around certain quests and certain schematics, but I think the community patches sorted those out?

Which games work well in crossover? They seem to have a good list of business apps on their site for the 'Crossover Linux' impersonator, but no list for the 'Crossover Games' impersonator. I'm mostly interested in steam games like Company of Heroes, Team Fortress 2, SupCom 2, Torchlight, etc. Do you find that crossover plays well with most of these types of games?
