About me

I'm a teen software developer who relishes hacking PHP on the Web, C# on his PC and Objective-C on his Mac. I adore math, Jesus, Apple and π, but not apple pie!

I'm not a hardcore gamer by any rate, but I do play some games, and on the few games that I do play I try to get as close to 100% completion as possible, and sometimes I succeed. Puzzle's probably the genre that gets me the most. You can find me on Steam, where I was formerly known as The Annoying Pyro for quite a while, before I finally decided that being annoying was getting old.

My 5 most favorite games of all time (so you may see me patrolling these tags most often):

  1. The Ratchet & Clank franchise, by Insomniac Games, who are awesome.

  2. The Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. I often prefer Knuckles to Sonic though, for some reason.

  3. The reboot of the Tomb Raider franchise. Admittedly, I was never interested in Lara Croft's previous capers, but Crystal Dynamics was right: I'm really captivated by the idea of going through this brand new, character-building adventure of survival with a fellow (albeit fictitious) human being.

  4. The RollerCoaster Tycoon franchise, originally created by the talented Chris Sawyer, who is also awesome.

  5. Team Fortress 2, my favorite class being (although I main as ).

Honorary mention goes to Minesweeper, with my personal records on the Windows 7 version being:

  • Beginner: 5 seconds
  • Intermediate: 28 seconds
  • Advanced: 64 seconds

comment What does a red icon mean in TF2 on the killboards?
Note that most kills (except non-lethal hits with the Holy Mackerel) will be reported in the console, so in this case, the output will be "soccer sam88 killed Table with phlogistinator. (crit)" and "didn't notice you killed Neil Armstrong with ubersaw."

comment Origin of achievements
My first experience with "achievements" prior to the Xbox 360 was with Ratchet & Clank, where completing difficult or unnecessarily contrived tasks earned you Skill Points which you used to unlock in-game bonuses. The only differences are that they are tied to your save (although they carry across playthroughs on the same save), not your account (since the PS2 didn't really have online gamer accounts), and the only way to know how to earn a Skill Point before earning it is to look it up online.

comment How can I move an installed game from one Steam library folder to another?
@sj26: Took me long enough but thanks to JamesGecko's comment I finally understand what was happening. I've updated my answer but linked to yours as well.

Yeah, it's a bit of a hidden feature :)

It seems tf2items doesn't display strange part attachments. The backpack icons in your Steam inventory page are clickable links - you can use those to link to your items (provided their item IDs don't change). Here's your Degreaser.

comment Do you earn XP for partial matches in Titanfall?
The regen multiplier seems to apply. I checked by playing a match, leveling up, then quitting. The level up is recorded along with the item that was unlocked, and the multiplier is listed in the XP gained to level up. Might have been a change since this answer was posted though.

comment Do Titans have a weak point?
I wouldn't say it's a duplicate of that question, unless you knew about the glowing red areas on Titans beforehand and just didn't mention it.

Yes, it does. I don't have a screenshot handy, however.

What makes you feel like you're just gunning down "innocent people"?

comment Do you get to keep Burn Cards over a level reset?
@Ramhound: The game does not force you to accept regen the moment you access the regen option for the first time, however you cannot progress beyond level 50 in any generation. The information is always there until you accept the regen. I know this because I just happened to regen a few hours before seeing this question.

If you're already aware of regen before even reaching level 50, you'd surely already have the answer to this question. The game tells you all of the information that you know and the information you're asking for, all in the same screen when you first access the regen option, and you are given a choice to accept the regen there and then or hold off for later.

Doesn't the game tell you this?

comment Can I pick up weapons dropped by enemies in TF2?
@Ullallulloo: The very assumption that that's how he does it is what makes this question not a duplicate. Besides, that other question makes no mention of picking up weapons dropped by dead players.

comment What can I do to stop an enemy Pilot from rodeoing my Titan?
I would suggest keeping your answer around as it's well-elaborated, and we like having different perspectives so long as there's variety :)

comment How do I run Titanfall in a custom screen resolution?
Note: this was posted during the beta period, but it looks like the issue is still in the final game.

comment How does Elizabeth getting various loot and then giving it to you work?
I like to think that the very last sentence in your answer could be a theory in how she "finds" items to give to the player during combat.

@Zibbobz: That's called groundstalling and doesn't work anymore. It was patched a few months back.

comment Is there a way to disable screen bob/shake?
The shaking that is caused by explosions and other environmental effects does a pretty good job of being "realistic" (or rather cinematic), but the way the occasional jerking that you see when running is so artificial is what gives me motion sickness.
