How do you stop yourself dying while drowning? I've almost drowned a couple times in 1.8.1, but never got stuck below the surface. Are you holding down the spacebar? Maybe it only happens in SMP |

Fog distance significantly lower in 1.8 As a side note, if you have skylights that reach down to the lower levels, it'll keep the fog away. |

The Pits - who wrote it and where is it now? More information about it would be helpful. What was "The Source"? What was "The Pits"? It's hard to answer any of your questions without knowing who wrote it, and it's entirely possible the source is lost (and with it, any chance of a port) Edit: the link that Matthew dug up is very useful |
