May 20, 2015 at 15:24 comment added Greg The optimal number of works is 2 workers per patch, having 3 workers gives a diminished gain. You will harvest far more minerals having 3 bases with 48 workers (16 on each) than 2 bases with 48 workers (24 on each).
May 10, 2013 at 0:05 comment added Nick122 To be honest... I briefly looked and cannot find it anywhere. But check any pro game, tournament, etc. They will almost always have only 16 workers. After 16 you start getting less and less by adding on more workers.

May 3, 2013 at 20:34 comment added Nick122 omg... please. I will get hated for this. But if you don't know. Don't post. The OPTIMAL number of workers is 16. 24 is max. Period. It is tried tested and true. I am a high masters zerg player. I know what I am talking about.

May 3, 2013 at 9:58 comment added Alenanno @Nolonar This video shows that 24 is optimal if your main building is placed 1 block back. But this means that the optimal number is around 20 for regular position.

May 3, 2013 at 9:51 comment added Nolonar @Alenanno Ah... I thought maximum == optimal, since that would allow you to spam units and overrun your enemy. Shows how low-tier I am in Starcraft, lol :p
May 3, 2013 at 9:50 comment added Alenanno @Nolonar I think that's the maximum, not the optimal number.
May 3, 2013 at 9:49 comment added Nolonar As of the latest patch, the optimal number of workers is displayed above the Refinery/Extractor/Assimilator for Vespene, and above the Command Center/Hatchery/Hive/Lair/Nexus for Minerals.
