Oct 25, 2018 at 17:46 comment added Cmdr Freiheit @LastStar007 Lowering FSD priority isn't always a good idea. You can't jump with hardpoints deployed, but the FSD takes time to power back on, so setting priorities to shut it down with weapons deployed will slow down your escape time.
Sep 20, 2018 at 7:25 comment added LastStar007 @Iszi You can't jump with your hardpoints deployed anyway, so you might as well lower the FSD's priority.
Sep 15, 2015 at 14:23 comment added Iszi I keep the FSD at a high priority - usually alongside thrusters. Last thing you want to have happen is to be at a power shortage because of damage taken, and not be able to run!

Apr 28, 2015 at 21:30 comment added user109166 It's possible to get yourself the highest-grade Life Support and run with it depowered during dogfights. In the Viper, that's 25 minutes of air, more than enough to run to a RES, blow through all my ammo killing criminals, and run back to the station.

Dec 17, 2014 at 13:28 comment added Flyto My approach to priorities is: 1. Life support (debatable); 2. Defensive stuff: Thrusters, shields, maybe sensors; 3. Weapons; 4. FSD. It's totally viable to run with a moderate power deficit, because the FSD requires quite a lot of power even when not being used - it's hard to see the downside of having the FSD powered off when hardpoints are deployed, since you can't activate it anyway. (problem for discovery scanners & interdictors, perhaps?)
