Apr 22, 2022 at 19:58 comment added EmCeeChupi the Undying FEAR used to stand for F*[Hyperlink Blocked]ing *Evil Annoying Rat, and I would keep the old name because it is more accurate than the new "clean" name, considering a lot of FEAR Pokemon are Rats (like the original, Rattata), but that's just me. Also, any move with a +2 or greater Priority will outspeed the Quick Attack and finish you off.

Apr 14, 2016 at 20:19 comment added user2414268 I wouldn't so much say rattata makes a good choice as it was the original choice to try to embarrass other players.
Apr 14, 2016 at 15:58 comment added Ryan FER sounds like a great way to maximize chances of capturing a legendary Pokemon, next to false swipe or a similar move.
Apr 14, 2016 at 3:06 comment added jpmc26 @Zibbobz You could also use a priority move on the second turn, which will allow you to still out speed Rattata.
Apr 13, 2016 at 16:55 comment added Wrigglenite I believe Chase Sandmann might be basing their comment just on the item description, which did not include it being used up before gen 6. However, the item has always done so, as evidenced by the lack of immortal Shedinja in gen 4. Smogon notes that it's single use, using the same wording for berries, which are obviously consumed on use.
Apr 13, 2016 at 16:45 comment added Invader Skoodge I don't know what to believe anymore.

Apr 13, 2016 at 16:45 comment added Wrigglenite @ChaseSandmann That's not true, Focus Sash has always been single use. You might be thinking of Focus Band.

Apr 13, 2016 at 16:16 comment added Chase Sandmann The focus sash only started disappearing in 6th gen, which does not apply to this question. It is good knowledge for others wanting to employ this strategy though.
Apr 13, 2016 at 13:51 comment added Zibbobz There's also a bunch of ways around it - basically using any move that doesn't deal direct damage, or just inflicting a status effect, can ruin the trick. And tossing out a Ratatta or any weak pokemon like it on your first turn is a dead giveaway that you're trying something like this, so it's unlikely to work...but fun when it does.
Apr 13, 2016 at 10:35 comment added Pharap You could substitute a Focus Band for a Focus Sash. It has the downside that it only works some of the time, but it doesn't break after use so you don't have to farm more.

Apr 13, 2016 at 7:42 comment added user2357112 Focus Sashes break permanently in story mode, so healing up won't help you reuse one.
Apr 13, 2016 at 6:55 comment added Marv Splash can deal less than 1 damage!
