Does a bios increase the perfomance of What does a game while emulating it via "MyBoyBIOS file do in an emulator like 'MyBoy!"'?

Recently, I got MyBoy! full and the .gba of "Super Mario World 4", and it works perfecly.

Whenwhen I go through the "Settings" page, I see an option that says "Use BIOS" (Settings > Advanced) and a file explorer with it that allows you to search the BIOS file.

My questionquestions are: Why enable it? Does the BIOS increase the perfomance of the game? Is reccomendable to use it?
