About Counter-Strike
Counter-Strike, AKA CS 1.6, is a multiplayer tactical first-person shooter game developed by Valve and originally released in 2000. It began as a mod for the 1998 game Half-Life and is the first game in the Counter-Strike series. The game pits two teams against each other: the counter-terrorists and the terrorists. Each team has a variety of weapons and equipment at its disposal, and fights to complete an objective or eliminate the other team. The game is fast-paced and team-oriented, and it has received praise for its realistic and competitive gameplay. It is considered one of the most influential and revolutionary multiplayer games of all time.
Version 1.6 is the last major version of Counter-Strike and is delivered using the Steam platform. It has stopped upgrading version numbers since 2003, when 1.6 came out, but it still receives updates via Steam; new version numbers are just not issued.
